White-edged Four Seas Wave (Faucaria bosscheana var. haagei), belongs to the Mesembryanthemum Genus of the Aizoaceae Family, is native to the limestone regions of the Great Karoo Plateau in South Africa. The White-edged Four Seas Wave is considered a subspecies of Four Seas Wave and has distinct differences from the original. The plant prefers warm, dry conditions with plenty of sunlight, is not cold-tolerant, can withstand semi-shade and drought, and is sensitive to excessive moisture and strong sunlight exposure. It has a slight dormancy in summer. The White-edged Four Seas Wave grows densely in clusters, is very fleshy, with leaves arranged in a cross pattern, opposite each other, and united at the base. The leaf tips are triangular, with hard-skinned ridges on the edges and backs of the leaves. There are a few fleshy teeth on the leaf surface, and the edges and backs have white borders. The flowers are large and sessile, with yellow as the main color, cross-pollinated, and seeds are easily obtained.
The White-edged Four Seas Wave needs ample sunlight for the leaves to be colorful and the plant to be more compact and beautiful. Insufficient sunlight results in green leaves and loose leaf arrangement, causing the leaves to stretch. The plant can be repotted every two to four years depending on its growth state, with the pot diameter slightly larger than the plant diameter to promote growth. The soil must be dry before watering, and slow-release fertilizer can be applied. Propagation methods include sowing and cutting the top, as well as taking side buds for cutting. The leaves of the White-edged Four Seas Wave look quite beautiful, and the plant forms a spectacular cluster when grown together.
