Pearl String Sedum - The Growth Journal of a Succulent Plant

The editor would like to share some content about the Pearl String Sedum, a type of succulent plant. Pearl String Sedum - The Growth Journal of a Succulent Plant, let's learn about it together.

The Pearl String Sedum has been introduced many times~ It is one of my favorite succulents that can be cultivated as a hanging plant; there are currently two common types, one with round beads, often called "Buddha Beads" or "Pearl String Sedum"; the other is droplet-shaped, generally referred to as "Lover's Tears", and there is also a variegated type, which is even more beautiful.

The Pearl String Sedum inherits the characteristics of the Asteraceae family, requiring a large amount of water during the growing season in spring and autumn, and grows rapidly when there is sufficient water. It is particularly sensitive to humid environments in summer, so measures such as ventilation, shading, and water control are needed to survive the summer.

If you notice that the stems on the surface of the soil are rotting and withering, do not hesitate to cut them off immediately, and after a simple pruning of the healthy branches, they can be re-planted. It basically does not require direct sunlight, especially in summer, do not expose it to the sun. Watering should be careful in summer and winter, but in spring and autumn, you can water generously! In terms of soil ratio, a higher proportion of granular material is beneficial for root respiration and growth. The roots grow very fast, so it is best to use a deeper pot, about 15CM deep.

The first batch of Pearl String Sedum I got at home was particularly pitiful, bought for 10 yuan from an old lady. At that time, I didn't understand much about the habits of succulent plants and was unfamiliar with the soil, which was all yellow clay and had hardened. It happened to be summer, and after two months of care, it not only didn't grow but actually decreased. Then, I started adjusting the soil, throwing away the original yellow clay and replacing it with granules and black soil from the flower market.

After adjusting the soil, the Pearl String Sedum grew significantly, and in just three months, it produced many new plants.

Then, I divided them into two hanging baskets. By this time, I had some understanding of succulent plants and made further adjustments to the soil.

At this time, I discovered a new propagation method, burying the branches shallowly and then covering the surface with a layer of soil.

Water immediately and wait for the miracle~ Soon, many new buds will sprout from the soil.

This method is very suitable for situations with not too many branches, as it is very slow in the early stages, but once the seedlings grow, they will grow rapidly.

After another three months of growth, the Pearl String Sedum plants have completely exploded the pot...

I even dared not tell everyone that at this time, they had been pruned many times and given away to local flower friends.

So, in fact, they should be even longer and more abundant, and the Pearl String Sedum that was cut and given away has also become the grandmotherly generation.

Half a year has passed and many have been propagated. During this period, due to being away on business and lacking management, the Pearl String Sedum was infected with root mealybugs.

It also happened to be summer, and many of them showed signs of rotting, but fortunately, I made adjustments in time after returning home.

I re-planted them all and they恢复了生机, and the number increased even more...

If you want to hang it, the Alice pot is the most suitable, as it is light and has the right depth, with enough internal volume.

You can also choose some瀑布状的花器~ It also looks great when matched.

And the flowers of the Pearl String Sedum smell wonderful~ Every time I come home, a burst of fragrance greets me.
