DIY - Succulent Plants

This website introduces knowledge about succulent plants, DIY Succulent Plants. Next, the editor of this site will introduce to everyone.

The tutorial begins, the materials needed for a succulent plant wreath are simple: (wreath diameter 30CM)

1. Wreath netting. This can be purchased from a certain (obao) platform, or some students say that the netting from a fan might work as well? I haven't tried it, but it should be fine as long as it's net-like.

2. Material. This time I tried dried sphagnum moss, and the effect was excellent! I was initially worried that it wouldn't retain enough water, making it difficult to water later on, but these concerns were completely dispelled.

3. An adequate variety of succulent plants. It's best to choose a variety of colors, with Sedum species as the main ones, around 5-6 plants of each color, and I used more than 50 in total.

This time, let's reverse the order and first talk about the varieties of succulent plants and the care of the wreath.

Firstly, the wreath can only be placed on a balcony, terrace, or garden. Window sills are not very suitable, and indoor spaces are even less so. Therefore, everyone should first determine their own space. Don't buy it just because it looks good; suitability is the most important. For the growth of the wreath, it requires a lot of sunlight, and it's best to keep it outdoors during the spring, summer, and autumn seasons to maintain its overall shape. When it comes to watering, it's best to take it down and use the immersion method, after which you won't need to water for a month.

Many plant enthusiasts worry whether planting too densely will affect the succulents, but actually, it's fine. As long as it's not placed indoors, and the succulents don't grow too tall, their color and shape will remain very good, and they will look even more beautiful when crowded together. If you're only considering the health of the succulents, then it's best to plant them in pots. Because the moss in the wreath cannot retain water for a long time, there will always be some water deficiency, making the succulents relatively less plump. Sometimes, when creating large succulent landscapes, you can't predict the state of a single plant; it's about the overall effect, so it depends on personal preference.

The price of the succulents, with more than 50 plants costing nearly 300 yuan, most of which were directly selected from greenhouses, and some are mine. You definitely can't buy such beautiful ones on a certain (obao) platform, with individual prices around 5-6 yuan, some at 8 yuan and 10 yuan. However, since the wreath requires a large number of succulents, it's not recommended to use those priced above 10 yuan. Varieties like Huangli, Mingyue, Lan Song, Huangjin Huayue, Jilu Yue, Heizi, Bai Mudan, Jiwalian, Yue Er, and Shuangzhichao, which are relatively inexpensive and have rich colors, can be bought in larger quantities.

I was initially worried that the gaps in the wreath netting would be too large, and the moss might fall through, and I also considered whether I should lay some burlap or something on it. Later, I found out that the moss needs to be pre-soaked in water, then the excess water is squeezed out before placing it in the wreath, and the effect is completely different. Not only does it not fall out, but it also holds on very well. You don't need to worry too much about nutrients because succulents don't need fertilizer.

Fireworks are great when they're all red, but they can easily turn green if not careful, and there are many unpredictable factors in the later growth of fireworks, so I didn't include them. The selection of succulent varieties is also quite particular, with most of the ones I picked having relatively fixed growth points without much change, which is beneficial for later care and the overall shape of the wreath.

The above is a detailed explanation of the DIY succulent plant wreath making. I hope this article can provide you with help in green plant management!
