Fragrant succulents
Plant knowledge section, sharing with you the introduction of succulents, fragrant succulents, let's get to know them together.
Some plant lovers asked about fragrant succulents, to be honest, the author didn't pay attention to smell them, so can only refer to other information to tell plant lovers which succulents have fragrance, for reference.
1、Ice莓 Echeveria 'Rasberry ice'
Ice莓, a hybrid variety of Echeveria, can be sure to have the genes of Yueying, but the specific information and parents are unknown. A popular variety in China, almost every succulent enthusiast has one. Currently, some succulent enthusiasts think it might be the same variety as Ziyueying.
Its fragrance is a sweet scent, similar to the feeling of vanilla ice cream. The fragrance is always strong, even noticeable at night.
2、Blue Bean Graptopetalum pachyphyllum
The original variety of Graptopetalum, small and easy to cluster, because of the high altitude of the native place, it is afraid of heat. Blue Bean and Ice莓 have a very similar fragrance, sweet and sticky. However, it doesn't smell without sun exposure, and there's almost no scent at night.
3、Mini莲 (Pami Rose)
This variety is basically confirmed to be an unknown hybrid variety, with no formal Latin name or parent information.
I originally thought it was a Zichi Bailan (also known as Fenmanlian). But later, after being corrected by several plant lovers, I found that it is very different from Zichi Bailan. This variety also has a distinct sweet fragrance, especially noticeable under sunlight. As a popular variety in China, everyone can have a sniff. (The guess in parentheses is irresponsible: it is currently basically confirmed that this variety is a hybrid. From the perspective of fragrance and mini size, could Mini莲 be a hybrid descendant of Blue Bean? Maybe it is a hybrid with Zichi Bailan, which also likes to run? The dark spots on the leaf tips also resemble Blue Bean... Again, the information in parentheses is an irresponsible guess.)
4、Spring On, a cute succulent that barely came out of the pot-protecting grass category. Strong personality and easy to survive the summer, loves to branch out.
The fragrance of Spring On is very light, only noticeable when the potting soil is dry or after sun exposure, and it is also a sweet fragrance similar to Ice莓.
5、Dharma Fuyang Cotyledon pendens
Also known as Maruyu Fuyang, it has a different fragrance from the succulents mentioned above, belonging to the Kalanchoe subfamily, the Dharma Fuyang has a light fragrance similar to lemon oil. Similarly, under the sun, the fragrance of Dharma Fuyang is stronger. (Refreshing, my favorite fragrant succulent.)
6、Coagulated wax莲 (Laoer?) Sedum clavatum
The most well-known fragrant succulent, with a gentle and fresh fragrance, light and long-lasting, rich but not greasy... The hybrid offspring of Coagulated wax莲 also inherits its fragrant qualities. Spring Sprout, Vanilla (xSedeveria 'pudgy' - a hybrid of Coagulated wax莲 and Calm Night) also has a fragrance.
7、Spring Sprout Sedum 'Alice Evans'
A hybrid variety within the Sedum genus. It is the offspring of Coagulated wax莲 and Green Pine, inheriting the fragrance of its mother, Coagulated wax莲. Just expose it to the sun and it comes out.
8、White Frost Red Frost Sedum spathulifolium ssp. pruinosum
Information about this variety is not detailed, and ICN has not recorded information about this variety. Its Latin name is even unfindable in the Sedum subdirectory. A small, easy-to-cluster variety that easily forms large clusters but still has a high price, almost considered the most expensive pot-protecting grass-level succulent. The fragrance is sweet and can only be noticed after sun exposure, with no scent at night.
Let me introduce the family with various fragrances - the Echeveria genus.
Among them, varieties with elegant fragrances include Xiangfu and Dengtianle, according to Xiaojie, they have a resin fragrance... unfortunately, I haven't smelled it. However, many Echeveria plants have a special smell - such as Club Leaf Dwarf, a strong smelly foot odor... According to some flower friends, the hybrid variety Ziyangrong also has a smelly foot odor... (I just smelled it myself, indeed it does)
