Edo Purple is a succulent plant belonging to the Sedum family, also known as Hana Shiso. New enthusiasts who have just acquired Edo Purple face the issue of how to care for it, which is basically the same as the care methods for other Sedum family succulents.

Edo Purple prefers a warm, dry, and sunny environment, is not cold-resistant, relatively drought and semi-shade tolerant, afraid of moisture and strong light, with the optimal growth temperature being 18°C-23°C, and it cannot be lower than 10°C in winter. The cultivation medium should be fertile, loose, and well-draining soil.

In daily maintenance, insufficient light can cause the stems and leaves to elongate, the plant shape to become loose, the leaf color to fade, the white powder to disappear, and the spot color to fade, seriously affecting the ornamental value. Strong sunlight in summer can cause the leaf tips to wither. Therefore, except for proper shading during the high temperatures of summer, sufficient light should be provided in other seasons, resulting in thick leaves, distinct white powder, and clear and prominent purple-brown spots, making the plant very beautiful.

During the high temperatures of summer, as the plant grows slowly, ventilation should be enhanced to prevent the base stems and leaves from turning yellow and rotting due to excessive soil moisture. In winter, place the plant in a sunny indoor area, with the night temperature not lower than 12°C and the day temperature above 18°C, and water normally to allow the plant to continue growing; if it's not possible to maintain such high temperatures, reduce watering to make the plant dormant, which can tolerate a low temperature of 5°C. Spring and autumn are the vigorous growth periods for the plant, and the soil should be kept moist but not waterlogged.
