How to care for "Rain Heart"

This article provides a brief introduction to the knowledge of the succulent plant "Rain Heart", how to care for it, and shares detailed information below.

Rain Heart is also known as "Purple Rain Heart", scientific name: Crassula Volkensii. It belongs to the Sedum genus of the Crassulaceae family and is native to the eastern part of South Africa. The Rain Heart plant has many branches and is easy to form clusters. The fleshy leaves are spindle-shaped, opposite, and closely arranged, with light brown or brown-purple fine spotted patterns on the green leaf surface, resembling the momentary stillness of a drizzle on the leaves, like the lingering traces left by raindrops on the leaf surface.

Its "Variegated" variety, "Rain Heart Variegata", is mainly distinguished by the variation in leaf color, with light pink on both sides of the leaf and green in the middle. As shown in the figure below

Under conditions of dry soil and sufficient light, the spots on the leaves of the Rain Heart plant will appear purple, and some even have a purple aura, hence the name "Purple Rain Heart". Rain Heart has a tendency to bloom. The flowering season is spring, with small white flowers at the top of the branches and leaves, yellow anthers, blooming in clusters, which is very lively and beautiful, and the flowering period is also long.

Rain Heart enjoys sunbathing and loves to bask in the breeze. It is resistant to cold, heat, and shade, making it an easy-to-care-for variety. The optimal growth temperature is between 15-20 degrees Celsius, and the temperature in winter should not be lower than 5 degrees Celsius. It is suitable for full-day sun exposure in spring, autumn, and winter to prevent the plant from growing too tall and to keep the leaf color bright. Watering should be thorough when the soil is dry; in summer, it should be kept in a semi-shaded and well-ventilated area, with moderate watering. During the growing season, ensure sufficient water supply to keep the potting soil moist, and even in summer and winter, the potting soil should not be allowed to remain dry for an extended period, as this can cause the roots to dry out and lead to the death of the plant. The growing medium should be loose and have good permeability. Propagation is mainly done through division and cutting.
