How to mix general nutrient soil
About how to mix general nutrient soil and the simplest homemade nutrient soil formula for green plant maintenance tips, let's follow the editor to take a look!
Most people grow flowers on their balconies or indoors, and many flower enthusiasts in the city find it difficult to dig up leaf mold soil and cannot compost themselves, so they can only buy nutrient soil. Some flower enthusiasts spend freely when buying flowers but choose poor-quality nutrient soil, which results in poor flower growth.
Coconut brick is the most common flower growing medium, which needs to be soaked in clean water before use ( preferably rinsed many times with running water to avoid salt residue). Flower enthusiasts can also buy imported peat soil directly.
There are some particularly cheap poor-quality nutrient soils online that may even have an unpleasant smell, indicating that they are not fully decomposed and fermented. These are usually garden soil and coconut bran mixed with some manure or compost. If the manure is not fully decomposed, it will leave an unpleasant smell, and this type of nutrient soil can easily burn the plant's roots.
There are many high-quality nutrient soils online, but they are generally expensive, sometimes even more expensive than buying flowers. Especially when planting in flower boxes or large pots, a large bag of nutrient soil may not even fill a flower box.

If you can't bear to spend money but want high-quality nutrient soil, you can definitely try to configure some good nutrient soil by collecting or purchasing some materials for growing flowers.
How to mix general nutrient soil
The white granules in the nutrient soil are perlite.
For example, the most widely circulated universal potting soil configuration method among experienced gardeners is to mix fine coconut bran, coarse coconut shell, and perlite in a ratio of 5:3:2. This type of potting soil is very loose and breathable, has a certain water retention capacity, and excellent drainage, but its main drawback is that it contains no nutrients.

If you want to use this type of potting soil for growing flowers, it is recommended to mix some well-rotted sheep manure or earthworm manure into the potting soil, with the addition not exceeding 1/10 of the potting soil. If conditions allow, you can directly mix slow-release fertilizer into the soil, and you can also sprinkle some slow-release fertilizer on the soil surface. For a flower pot with a diameter of 15 centimeters, a small spoonful of slow-release fertilizer is sufficient.

Flower enthusiasts also have another universal soil mixing option, which is to mix peat soil with perlite. You can choose imported peat soil mixed with perlite in a 4:1 ratio, which can be used to plant most indoor ornamental plants.
If plants require higher soil drainage and breathability, it is recommended to mix peat soil with perlite in a 3:1 ratio.
For succulents, mix peat soil with particle soil (akadama, bakuhan,鹿沼土, diatomaceous earth, or zeolite) in a 1:1 ratio.
