Yushu pruning principles
Yushu is a classic variety among succulent plants, and its pruning shape directly affects the health and ornamental value of the plant. Scientific pruning can not only promote the germination of new branches, but also create simple and elegant tree shapes. Mastering the following four core pruning rules and matching the key points of seasonal maintenance can allow your Yushu to show bonsa-level artistic effects. The four core steps of Yushu pruning are: Dormancy period, short-cut shaping, and pruning is implemented during the hibernation period of Yushu every year from December to February of the following year. Keep the length of the main branches of 10-25cm, prune them in layers according to the principle of "short main branches and long side branches." Keep the top branches obliquely inclined at 30° to promote healing. Pay special attention to retaining the buds on the facing surface, and simultaneously remove dead branches, sick branches and cross branches. It is best to keep the incision 0.5cm away from the buds. During the growth period, pruning and shape control are carried out during the vigorous growth period from March to May, and three types of branches are mainly treated: ① The spacing between thin and weak branches in dense areas is 3-5cm; ② Parallel branches are reserved 1-2 branches with excellent growth directions; ③ The inward branches need to be completely cut off from the base. Spray carbendazim solution after trimming to maintain ventilation to avoid incision infection. Refined post-flowering modeling will be carried out within 7 days after the end of the flowering period. The "three-cutting method" will be used: first, the residual flowers will retain 1cm at the base, second, the branches will retain 4-6 bud points, and third, the long branches will maintain the overall crown. Balance. Pay special attention to retaining the outer bud points to promote expanded growth, and apply plant ash to the incision to accelerate healing. Daily maintenance and fine-tuning are carried out monthly maintenance and fine-tuning. The key treatments are: ① Keep the horizontal branches within 30cm; ② Keep the space for the dominant branches; ③ Keep 2-3 bud points for the drooping branches. Cooperate with the rotating flowerpot to ensure uniform light reception. After pruning, water is stopped for 3 days, and normal maintenance is restored after the incision scabs.
Regular pruning combined with scientific maintenance can increase the thickening rate of Yushu trunk by 40%, and the crown density by 60%. It is recommended to use professional pruning shears, supplement phosphorus and potassium fertilizer after each pruning, and maintain the ambient temperature of 15-25℃ as the best modeling period.
