Why is it also said that you cannot spray water?
The editor introduces to you our experience in plant care to respect the individuality of green plants. The editor will answer your questions in detail below.
As mentioned in the previous article, not all flowers, including not all hydrophytes, can be sprayed on the leaves!
Many flower enthusiasts may not understand this! Isn't it said that hydrophytes require higher humidity? Why can't water be sprayed on the leaves? It's contradictory!
In fact, this is not contradictory at all!
Just like us humans, even though we are all from Zhejiang, some people can eat spicy food, and some cannot.
This example may not be appropriate, but it wants to say:
Everyone has their own personality, and so do plants.
We should respect the individuality of plants!
So what kind of plants can be sprayed with water, and what kind of plants cannot be sprayed with water?
Usually, we can see many retired elderly people who like to take a spray bottle and spray water on the potted plants at home.
This is to increase the humidity of the air and also to clean the dust off the leaves, keeping the plant leaves clean, which is more conducive to photosynthesis and better growth.
It seems that spraying water on the leaves of plants is beneficial to their growth.
So why is it also said that you cannot spray water?
It means that not all moisture-loving flowers can be sprayed with water!
Some flowers have leaves with villi, and this type of flower cannot be sprayed with water.
For example, catharanthus, begonia, and calceolaria have many fine villi on their leaves.
If spraying is carried out, the water will adhere to the villi and be difficult to evaporate, which can easily cause the leaves to rot over time.
Think about whether your catharanthus died because of this?
Why is it also said that you cannot spray water?
This is one situation where spraying is not allowed, and another is:
Potted plants in bloom should not be sprayed.
If you often spray water on potted plants in bloom, the water will remain in the flower pistil, which will affect pollination and may also cause the flowers to rot.
In fact, most potted plants do not need to be deliberately sprayed to increase humidity and can grow well relying on natural air humidity.
Only in dry seasons or in dry air conditions with air conditioning and heating do you need to manually increase the air humidity.
Manually increasing air humidity is recommended to use an air humidifier instead of directly spraying the leaves. Leaf spraying only increases local short-term air humidity, and changing the living environment is the fundamental solution.
As for cleaning the leaves with water, it should also be moderate, as too much of a good thing can be bad!
So stop taking a spray bottle and spraying water at will, especially in warm environments with poor air circulation. If you spray frequently, the water cannot evaporate in time, and the high temperature and humidity environment is most likely to cause diseases and pests in potted plants.
By now, everyone should have a comprehensive understanding of the water-loving nature of various flowers. So, how can we water correctly to ensure the healthy growth of potted plants?
Regarding this point, due to limited space, Green Plant Enthusiast Network will provide specific analysis and explanation in the next article. Welcome to continue following.
The above-sharing content about respecting the individuality of plants and why it is also said that you cannot spray water is hoped to be helpful to green plant enthusiasts!
