Narcissus lifespan is how many years

A brief knowledge sharing with you about the lifespan of narcissus and the introduction of the benefits and drawbacks of green plants and flowers related to sharing narcissus. Next, the editor will introduce it.

Old丛 narcissus, due to its unique quality characteristics and charm, has increasingly been sought after by the market and tea lovers in recent years. Generally speaking, old丛 narcissus trees need to survive for more than 100 years, are century-old narcissus really-existent? They reach a certain age, but there has never been an accurate definition of the age. In most cases, narcissus tea trees over 50 years old can be called old丛 narcissus, while those over 100 years old are known as century-old old丛 narcissus, which are treasures among narcissus.

Firstly, to investigate the age of the century-old old丛 narcissus in Wuyi Mountain, it is necessary to start with the history of narcissus planting. According to the "Narcissus Mother Tree Records" written by Mr. Zhang Tianfu in 1939, the narcissus mother tree was first discovered in Yan Yi Mountain, Zhuxian Cave, Dahu Village, Xiaolu Township, Jianyang, Fujian, during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty (1821-1850 AD), and has existed for more than 200 years.

Nowadays, there are even 15 century-old narcissus tea trees left in Shufang Village, Shufang Township, Jianyang District, which were planted by Liu Denghui from the fourth to the thirteenth year of the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1865-1874 AD). Among them, the tallest tea tree is 639 cm tall, which is a large tree.

Later, narcissus seeds were brought to Wuyi Mountain for planting during the Guangxu period (1875-1908) with tea workers involved in tea planting and production. This time point is explicitly mentioned in the famous tea scholar Lin Fuquan's "Production, Processing, and Marketing of Wuyi Tea," published in 1943.

The planting and cultivation methods of narcissus tea trees at that time were not complicated. At that time, the tea industry had not yet been industrialized, and tea farmers did not pursue extremely high yields. The initial cultivation was mainly done through seed planting or cutting techniques. This original cultivation method could ensure that narcissus tea trees could continue to grow without elaborate artificial breeding, seedling raising, fertilizing, pruning, and weeding.

If we calculate based on the recorded planting time and methods and do not consider changes such as reconstruction after wars or changes in cultivation methods, the existing old丛 narcissus trees in Wuyi Mountain can be over 140 years old.

Surprisingly, in an article titled "Five Old Mother Trees of Nanyang Narcissus in Yongchun," it is mentioned that the five narcissus old tea trees with an age of 154 years in Xixi Village, Huyang Town, Yongchun County were transplanted from Wuyi narcissus seedlings during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty (1857 AD). According to the transplantation point and historical timeline, the history of Wuyi narcissus might be even earlier. If any still exist, the age of the oldest Wuyi old tea trees has already exceeded 160 years.

When investigating the century-old old丛 narcissus production area in Wuyi Mountain, it was unexpectedly found that there is very little related information. According to the mainstream view, the areas with century-old narcissus trees in the core rock tea production area of Wuyi Mountain are mainly Huiyuan Ancient Well, Huiyuan Maple Tree Nest, Huiyuan stove, Zhukeng, and Shuilian Cave; the high mountain production areas are mainly in Wu Sandi, Zhangshu, and Zhukeng.

Although the production areas with century-old narcissus trees have not been disclosed, historical records indirectly provide some confirmation.

From 1942 to 1944, tea master Ye Minggao visited Wuyi Mountain to investigate tea tree varieties, and in his published work "Fujian Tea" (July, August, and September issues of 1946), it is clearly recorded that Shuilian Cave has narcissus tea trees introduced from Shuji in 1905; tea master Ni Zhengzhong's "Ni Zhengzhong Tea Industry Collection" also mentions that the specifications and quality of narcissus were determined in Quanyuan in 1916.

Quanyuan had main mountain fields such as Bishi Rock, Zhukeng, Manyun Rock, Mituo Rock, and the famous Huiyuan East Factory, so there is a high probability that there are century-old narcissus trees in these areas. There is also a century-old tea shop founded in 1862 called "Qi Yuan Tea House," which was famous for "Three-Seal Narcissus." At its peak in the 1920s and 1930s, its main mountain fields were Mantuo Peak, Xiabin Rock, Baoguo Rock, Zhukeng, and stove Rock, which actually reflects the possibility of century-old old丛 narcissus trees in these areas.

Of course, all the above inferences are based on historical records and related information and do not have authority. However, at least the answer that can be obtained now is that the existing century-old old丛 trees in Wuyi Mountain may be over 160 years old, and the areas with a high probability of having century-old old trees in the core rock area of Wuyi Mountain include Huiyuan, Zhukeng, Shuilian Cave, Mantuo Peak, Bishi Rock, Mituo Rock, etc.
