How to Repot a Peace Lily

Today's focus is on introducing the small gardening knowledge of how to repot a Peace Lily, let's take a look together.

How to Repot a Peace Lily

A Peace Lily can be repotted every 1-2 years, either in spring or autumn. Choose a loose, fertile, breathable, and well-draining soil. After removing the plant from its pot, use a disinfected pair of scissors to trim dead roots, rotting roots, and diseased branches, apply a fungicide, and let it dry in a shady, well-ventilated area. Then place it in a pot, straighten it with your hand, continue to fill with potting soil, and compact the soil.

The Peace Lily grows relatively fast. When the original pot is too small or after a long period of cultivation, when the soil becomes compacted and lacks fertility, repotting can be performed.

A Peace Lily can be repotted every 1-2 years, either in spring or autumn. It's best to repot in March to April each year when the temperature is suitable for the Peace Lily to adapt and grow.

Peace Lily Repotting Method

1. Prepare Potting Soil

The Peace Lily prefers a loose, fertile, breathable, and well-draining soil. You can mix peat ash, vermiculite, and fine sand in a ratio of 5:3:2 to create new potting soil for the Peace Lily. Note that the soil needs to be disinfected before use.

2. Unpotting and Root Pruning

Stop watering the Peace Lily 1-3 days before repotting, wait for the soil to become dry, use a spade to dig around the pot, encouraging the plant to separate from the pot wall, retain half of the soil clump to keep the root ball intact, use a disinfected pair of scissors to trim dead roots, rotting roots, and diseased branches, apply a fungicide, and let it dry in a shady, well-ventilated area.

3. Potting

Prepare a pot that fits the size of the Peace Lily, place a layer of ceramic stones at the bottom, add a layer of potting soil, put the Peace Lily plant in the pot, straighten it with your hand, continue to fill with potting soil, and compact the soil.

Peace Lily Repotting Precautions

After repotting, you can water the soil with an appropriate amount of water to moisten all the soil, providing the plant with a relatively humid growing environment to help it adapt better. Then place it in a shady area to acclimate, keeping the temperature between 20-28°C. It will take about 15-20 days to adapt. After the acclimation period, normal care and management can resume.
