Ground melastoma, with stems spreading or creeping on the ground surface, easily produces aerial roots at the nodes, has many branches, and propagates quickly. It has cymose inflorescences, flowering and fruiting period from May to November, prefers acidic soil, drought-resistant, and can tolerate poor soil. It grows well in full sunlight or semi-shaded conditions and has a certain degree of tolerance to trampling. Ground melastoma is native to the southern regions of China and is also distributed in Vietnam.
