How to Plant Potted Peony
Today, I will explain in detail how to plant potted peonies and share some small experiences in green plant maintenance for the cultivation and management of potted peonies. Next, the editor will introduce them.
Tang Dynasty poet Liu Yuxi once wrote, "The peony in the courtyard is ungraceful, the lotus on the pond is clean and lacks emotion. Only the peony has the true color of the country, and its blooming season moves the capital." This shows the charm of the "King of Flowers" - peony. Planting potted peonies needs to start from four aspects: first, choose a medium-sized pot and loose, breathable soil; second, manage the potting well; then adhere to the watering principle of "watering when dry and damp"; and finally, fertilize once or twice in autumn.
1. Potting Soil Selection
Referring to the size of the peony plant, we should first choose a medium-sized pot. Peonies are not picky about soil, as long as it is breathable and has good drainage. Generally, common garden soil mixed with a simple base fertilizer is used, and it is recommended to add some disinfectants to the potting soil to prevent mold and other harmful substances from harming the peony seedlings.
2. Potting Management
Special attention should be paid to the management of peonies after potting in autumn. It is best to place them in a shady place for 7-10 days before moving them to a sunny place for cultivation. Remember to water them in a timely and moderate manner during this period. In winter, when the temperature is low, the peony plants should be placed in a sunny spot to fully absorb the sun's rays.
3. Moderate Watering
Peonies are not plants that like humidity and require less water. The watering principle is to water when the potting soil is completely dry, keeping the soil moist. In winter, the plants are in a dormant state, so try not to water them.
4. Proper Fertilization
There is no need to fertilize peony plants in the first year of planting, as they can absorb enough base fertilizer added at the beginning of planting. In autumn, peonies are in a rapid growth stage, and it is possible to top-dress once or twice, especially when approaching the bud formation stage, some fertilizers containing phosphorus and potassium elements can be added appropriately.
The above sharing on how to plant potted peonies and the related content of cultivation and management of potted peonies, I hope it is helpful to you!
