Potted Coffee Tree
An article about other floral coffee trees, potted coffee trees,接下来 the site's editor will introduce to everyone.
The original place of coffee trees is in Ethiopia, Africa. Botanically, coffee trees belong to the evergreen trees of the Rubiaceae coffee subgenus, and what is commonly known as coffee beans are actually the seeds of the coffee tree fruits, which are called coffee beans because of their bean-like shape.
The first flowering period of coffee trees is about three years old, with white flowers, five-petal tube-shaped flowers that散发出 a faint jasmin fragrance, and dense and串排列 inflorescences. The flowers will wither after two or three days of blooming, and the fruits will begin to form a few months later. The fruit is a drupe, about 1.5 centimeters in diameter, initially green, then gradually turning yellow, and turning red when mature, very similar to cherries, hence called cherry coffee (Coffee Cherry), and it can be harvested at this time.
Inside the coffee fruit, there are two seeds, which are coffee beans. These two beans are connected face to face with their flat sides. Each coffee bean has a thin outer membrane, called the silver skin, and its outer layer is covered with a yellow outer skin, called the endocarp. The whole coffee bean is wrapped in a sticky pulp, forming the coffee flesh, which is soft and sweet, and the outermost layer is the shell. Unroasted coffee fruit seeds are toxic and must go through professional drying, crushing, and roasting processes before they can be used as a beverage.
Potted coffee trees (also known as coffee wood) should be given sufficient light in winter, and appropriately shaded in other seasons; now, it won't do if placed in a location with poor lighting! Also, watering requires the surface soil to be dry before watering, not too wet. It needs higher humidity in the air, and in winter, the whole plant must be frequently sprayed with warm water, with a water temperature of about 20℃. Do not use cold water! Avoid air conditioner outlets and radiators! The best temperature is between 15-25℃, and it does not like very high temperatures! Fertilizing should be done in small amounts multiple times within the appropriate temperature range.
Coffee trees are propagated by sowing seeds in loose humus soil, with the soil temperature maintained at 25-35℃ during the day and 15-20℃ at night, and seedlings emerge in 20-30 days. When the seedlings are 20 centimeters tall, they can be potted and have ornamental value. After that, the pot is changed every year, and every 15 days, a thin liquid of ripe farm manure is applied. In 2-3 years, they bloom and bear fruit, and in 4-6 years, the plant height is over 1.6 meters, with beautiful leaves and fruits, reaching the best ornamental period. Avoid direct sunlight and strong light, and semi-shaded scattered light is best for growth.
