Erqiao magnolia is the first hybrid bred by artificial hybridization between magnolia and purple magnolia, which is a small tree that can bloom twice in Beijing. The tepals vary in size, shape, and color. Due to the long cultivation time and various types of variation, many horticultural varieties have been bred through complex hybridization. The outer tepals of Erqiao magnolia are light purple, the inner ones are white, and they have a fragrance. The flowering period is April; the fruiting period is September.
