Four Seasons Orchid refers to the terrestrial orchid with main flowering shape in midsummer and golden autumn in China. The botanical community names it after its main origin, Fujian. In folk, it is called Xia Lan because some varieties bloom in midsummer, and it is also called Xia Hui because of its many flowers on the stem. Some varieties are called Qiu Lan or Qiu Hui because their main flowering shape is in golden autumn. There are also some varieties that bloom from late spring to early winter, and are called Siji Lan. It was carried to Suruga, Japan by Xu Fu, a special envoy of Emperor Qin Shi Huang when he went to Japan in search of the elixir of immortality. The descendants of the locals, not knowing its place of origin, called it Suruga Orchid. The cultivation history of Four Seasons Orchid is the longest and has been flourishing for a long time.
