How to cultivate the sleeping lotus
Sharing knowledge about how to cultivate the sleeping lotus and the planting methods of the lotus pot plants in the green plant and flower aspect. Here are the detailed introductions for you.
The sleeping lotus is a very unique flower with a very short blooming period of only one week. Perhaps it is precisely because of this brief blooming period that it has a special flower language: thin love, similar to someone who is very indifferent in love, not putting any effort into it, as if everything is dispensable to them.
In the center of the flower, there is a bud that only opens before it withers, which is very rare. Some people say this is a form of protection for the bud, and from this perspective, it seems like a protection for love. Therefore, such a flower is truly magical. In fact, there is a very touching legend about it.
Long ago, there was a girl living in a distant mountain village where water was scarce. One morning, she walked along the dried-up river and encountered a fish after walking a long distance. The fish told her that if she came to see him every day, he would give her a jar of water. The girl believed the fish's words and came to see the fish every morning. Her family asked where the water came from, but the girl always smiled without answering. By the third day, the girl found herself in love with the fish, but she felt that this was very unrealistic. On the seventh day, the fish asked her to become his wife and came ashore to embrace the girl, and they became husband and wife.
No matter whether this legend is true or not, it tells us that this flower is actually a good symbol of love. So, how should we cultivate such a flower? Their common method of propagation is division. During Qingming, we carefully dig them out of the soil, cut them into lengths of 10 centimeters, ensuring that each piece has one to three buds, which is the basis for whether they can germinate. For those tubers with no buds, they will not germinate. Place each piece in a pot.
How to cultivate the sleeping lotus
We can prepare soil that is deep and fertile, and even add some fertilizer. The thickness of the soil doesn't need to be very large, just enough to cover the planted tubers. The water depth also doesn't need to be too great, two to three centimeters is enough. When they start growing their own leaves, we can add more water and then place the whole pot in a pool, as this environment is the most suitable for their growth. The water depth doesn't need to be too high, generally between 20 to 30 centimeters, and they must be able to receive sunlight. By this point, they can already grow well on their own.
In places where the pond doesn't freeze in winter, we can confidently cultivate them outside. Some slight wilting is very normal. By the second year, they will grow back on their own, bloom in summer, and if we don't harvest the fruit after the flowers wither, they will naturally sink into the water and split open when mature, with the seeds scattered on the soil. Since the seeds are light, they will float on the water surface for a while before sinking, and some will grow into plants later.
Some may rot in this process, as not every seed has the requirement to germinate. Of course, we can also intervene in this process manually. In summer, we must maintain the water depth at about 25 centimeters and keep the water clean, changing it frequently and even washing the pot to make it last longer. When choosing a place for them, make sure there are no obstructions, although they can still bloom in such an environment, the blooming effect is not as good.
