Chuandian Yedian丁香 is a shrub, usually 0.7-2 meters tall, sometimes reaching 3 meters; branches are nearly cylindrical, young branches are covered with short villous or puberulent hair, old branches are hairless, covered with flaky longitudinal cracking thin bark. Leaves are papery, occasionally slightly leathery, shapes and sizes vary, broadly ovate, ovate, oblong, elliptical, or lanceolate; cymes are terminal and sub-axillary at the branch apex, corolla is funnel-shaped; seeds are covered with a reticulate false seed coat tightly adhering to the seed coat. Flowering period is June, fruiting period is September-October.
