Echineum, a perennial succulent plant, initially solitary in ball shape, later cylindrical and clustering, with blue-green epidermis, the top densely covered with white villus; the areoles are dense, the radial spines are yellowish-white and villous; funnelform flowers, sulfur yellow, both stamens and pistils are yellow. The flowering period is June to July. Echineum has two types, white hair and yellow hair, usually the white hair is superior. It prefers warm and dry environments with plenty of sunlight, drought-resistant and semi-shady, not tolerant to waterlogging. It is suitable for fertile, loose, and well-drained sandy loam soil, a mixture of decayed leaf soil, potting soil, and coarse sand can be used. Echineum has a blue-green stem body, bright yellow flowers, grows strong and full of vitality. It is suitable for potting or warm area ground planting for ornamental purposes.
