Cactus (Ball) Songxia Plant Properties
Chinese Name Songxia Alias YinSongYu, HuangMaoQiu Latin Name Mammillaria prolifera Family Cactaceae Genus Mammillaria Origin MexicoCactus (Ball) Songxia Plant Introduction
Songxia is commonly propagated through seeding, cutting, division, and grafting. For grafting, the Cereus peruvianus is used as the rootstock. Due to Songxia's soft spherical stem, the operation needs to be cautious, and the survival rate is lower than that of hard stems. It prefers a warm, dry environment with plenty of sunlight. It is somewhat cold-tolerant, drought-resistant, and afraid of strong light. It requires fertile, well-draining sandy soil. Songxia is dainty and cute, with red fruits that remain on top of the ball without falling, making it exceptionally interesting. It is suitable for potted or arranged into bottle landscapes, mini landscapes, especially for home cultivation, decorating windowsills, desks, and tabletops, graceful and elegant.
