Kankakei is a succulent plant, a variety of Chorisia, with multiple branches, finger-like stems, densely covered with white bristles, and 6-9 rhombuses on the stems. The flowers are funnel-shaped, crimson red, blooming in spring. It lacks chlorophyll and cannot synthesize nutrients on its own, so it needs to be grafted onto Hylocereus or other rootstocks. There are various types, including yellow-green Kankakei, golden Kankakei, and orange Kankakei.
