Wuyuewan is a subspecies of the Epithelantha genus, with small ball-shaped or cylindrical plants, and tiny spines arranged in a spiral pattern. There is a slightly downward-pointing small spine on the soft spine cushions, which is grayish-black. The plants are almost entirely covered by white soft spine cushions, and the side buds of the clustering Wuyuewan are barely visible with small spines. Wuyuewan flowers from May to July, with small funnel-shaped, pink flowers. It is a self-pollinating variety, and flowers are not always visible. The fruit is red, club-shaped, and very showy.
