Most flower enthusiasts, like myself, start with the very adorable succulent plants as their first pot of flowers. Succulents have always captured the hearts of countless flower enthusiasts with their cute appearance. However, succulent plants are not as easy to care for as imagined. For新手 flower enthusiasts, it can be challenging to cultivate them well. Today, I will share 5 tips from my own experience in caring for succulents, hoping to help everyone!
1. Soil
Succulents prefer to grow in dry, loose, and breathable sandy soil, as such soil has better drainage and aeration, which is more suitable for succulent growth. It is also best to change the potting soil in a warm weather when you buy succulents from the flower market, as the soil that comes with them is not very suitable for their healthy growth.
2. Temperature
Ensuring a suitable growth temperature is also very important for caring for succulents. Generally, a temperature range of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius is best for their growth. However, as long as the temperature does not exceed 35 degrees or drop below 5 degrees, most succulents will not enter a dormant period and will continue to grow normally.
However, even with the right temperature, it is also important to ensure good ventilation when caring for succulents. Otherwise, they will become very unenergetic if they are exposed to a stuffy and hot environment for a long time, affecting their ornamental value.
3. Watering
Succulents have thick leaves with some water storage capacity, so their water requirement is not high. In general, watering can be relatively frequent in spring and autumn, about once a week, every two weeks in summer, and once a month in winter. Flower enthusiasts should also summarize their watering experience based on the actual conditions of their succulents. Signs of dehydration, such as withered or soft leaves, indicate it's time to water thoroughly for a gradual recovery.

4. Light
Succulents also have certain requirements for light. They prefer sunny weather. If flower enthusiasts can ensure they receive more than 8 hours of adequate sunlight every day, the succulents at home will grow very beautifully. Therefore, placing them directly on a south-facing balcony or window sill in spring, autumn, and winter is sufficient.
However, it is necessary to provide some shade during the summer, as too much sunlight can burn their leaves, preventing healthy growth or even threatening their lives.
5. Regularly changing the potting soil
When caring for succulents, you can choose small and delicate pots with good water permeability and breathability, such as ceramic or tile pots. Flower enthusiasts with conditions can also use purple sand pots, which have better breathability and ornamental value.
