What kind of soil is suitable for succulents
A large part of succulents prefer acidic soil, but there are also a few, such as cacti, that prefer alkaline soil. For plants that prefer acidic soil, generally, soil with a pH below 7 should be used for planting. Ordinary soil can also be used, but it should be sterilized before planting.
Succulent soil
Most succulents grow in mountains or grasslands and prefer neutral or acidic soil. Therefore, if there is no acidic soil, ordinary soil can also be used to plant succulents. The matrix of nutrient soil is richer and better than ordinary soil, which makes succulents grow faster.

Soil mixing methods for succulents
1. Common succulent soil mixture
A commonly used method is to mix peat soil, coconut bran, and perlite in a ratio of 6:2:2. In addition to ensuring loose and breathable conditions, some trace element fertilizers should also be added to supplement nutrition.
2. Large rhizome succulent mixture
When the rhizomes of succulents are thick and robust, the requirement for soil breathability will be higher. In this case, the amount of peat soil should be reduced, and granular soil such as red jade soil, deer marsh soil, light stone, and vermiculite should be used as a substitute.
Repotting succulent plants
1. Choosing a pot
Usually, we need to choose a pot based on the size of the succulent. If the pot is too large, then when fertilizing, the fertilizer cannot be fully decomposed to the roots.
2. Soil mixture
Succulent plants need well-draining, ventilated, and loose potting soil. We can mix 5 parts peat soil, 3 parts granular soil, and 2 parts garden-specific soil. Granular soil can be coarse sand or coal slag, adding some granular soil can make the potting soil more breathable and loose.
3. Potting and care
(1) After choosing a pot and potting soil, we should first tap the side wall of the pot with our hands. When the potting soil is slightly loose and the succulent plant is about to detach, we can use a small scoop to push the succulent up from the bottom of the potting soil. After taking it out, remove the soil from the succulent roots.
(2) Then, check the roots. If some roots are腐烂 (rotten), they should be cut off with scissors in time. After cutting, spray the wound with a carbendazim solution, let it dry, and then it can be potted.
