Method of嫁接 Lingshan lotus

Today I will introduce to you the planting content of the succulent plant Lingshan lotus, the method of嫁接 Lingshan lotus. Next, let me introduce it to you by the editor of this site.

The method of嫁接 Lingshan lotus is the same as that of crab claw orchid, and the stock can be selected from cacti. I see many flower friends want to try嫁接 Lingshan lotus themselves. The following is the嫁接 process of a flower friend's Lingshan lotus, using cacti as the stock for reference and learning.

The first Lingshan lotus was not pruned and managed well, so it grew more than two meters long. Although some flower friends offered advice, I didn't know how to start and didn't want to waste the branches cut off. So in April this year, I only cut a branch about a foot long for propagation.

I cut this section of the branch into five segments, each about two inches long, with two segments directly planted and three grafted. The mother plant of the grafted Lingshan lotus is cacti, which, due to being planted outdoors, was greatly affected by a heavy snow this spring and had a near-death experience. However, this does not affect its function as a mother plant.

The grafted process is to take the cacti down and let it sit for a week; then, peel off the epidermis on both sides of the lower end of the Lingshan (about 2 to 3 centimeters long); then cut a suitable incision on the cacti; quickly put the Lingshan into it and press with your hand for a while to connect the two; finally, fix it with two cacti spines.

After the嫁接 is done, pot it immediately, put a little dry chicken manure at the bottom of the pot, and the potting soil is two parts of vegetable garden soil mixed with one part of sand. For the first few days, only spray water, and later, water thoroughly when watering, and do not water when it is not dry. In less than a month, the Lingshan has germinated and is growing rapidly. Now it is about six or seven inches long. I am thinking of changing to a larger and taller pot in autumn, making a支架, and leaving each sprout five inches long, cutting them all short to make a big cluster. I wonder if it will work?

Ps: After嫁接 the Lingshan, when the new leaves grow to about 25 centimeters, you can cut the top. The method is to cut off one millimeter along the edge of the top, so that the leaves after cutting will no longer grow upward, prompting the scion to sprout. Do not retain the new buds after cutting the leaves, pinch one out as it appears, so that the nutrients are concentrated in the leaves and stored nutrients for the buds.

The detailed explanation of the Lingshan lotus嫁接 method shared above is for everyone's reference and suggestion only!
