Isuzu Jade Sowing
Core content of this article: introduction to the knowledge of the succulent plant Isuzu Jade, Isuzu Jade sowing, let's take a look together!
Isuzu Jade sowing or division are two propagation methods. We mainly focus on the method of Isuzu Jade sowing, which is actually the same as the sowing method of living stones, with no special points. Details are as follows:
1. Sowing Time
Because it is now easy to control temperature artificially, there are no special requirements for time. Generally, it is around April in spring and before October in autumn. Specific timing depends on temperature control for sowing, with 10-25 degrees being the best.
2. Sowing Medium
Isuzu Jade sowing should use loose and breathable soil with good water retention. I use the simplest soil configuration method: Akadama soil 1 part, vermiculite 1 part: coarse sand 1 part. Generally, it is not advisable to use pure sand or soilless cultivation medium, as the seedlings are very small after germination and will not grow well without nutrients.
3. Soil Disinfection
The soil should be disinfected in advance. I use the most primitive method of high-temperature steaming for disinfection, which is the simplest and most economical method for general sowing enthusiasts and also has an ideal disinfection and sterilization effect. The steaming time should be controlled at 30 minutes, after which harmful bacteria and eggs are basically killed.
4. Isuzu Jade Sowing
Fold a piece of white paper in half, pour the seeds onto the paper, and since most of the seeds of succulents are very small, this step is very important. Make sure the seeds are spread out in a long line as shown in the picture below.
Then slightly fold the white paper and gently tap the back of the paper with your hand to evenly spread the seeds on the soil.
5. Spreading Soil
It seems that after sowing succulents, there is no need to cover the soil, but I personally feel that lightly spreading a thin layer of soil and slightly pressing the seeds can be more beneficial for the seedlings to take root. Note that it should only be a thin layer, about 1-2 millimeters. After spreading, you can gently spray a little water with a small spray bottle, the kind with very fine mist.
The sowing is considered complete. Flower enthusiasts should pay attention to keeping the temperature and humidity. When the daytime temperature is high, you can open a small corner for ventilation and close it tightly in the afternoon to maintain the humidity of the small environment. Sowing is generally done on sunny days, and it's best not to sow on cloudy or rainy days. Continuous cloudy or rainy weather after sowing can delay germination. After sowing, place the seedling tray in a place with scattered light, preferably outdoors, to increase the temperature difference, which is beneficial for even seedling emergence. Although seedlings can germinate well without sunlight, they are relatively weak and more difficult to manage later. I find that placing the seedling tray in a scattered light environment is more ideal for seedling growth.
