The jade fan, as a treasure of the transparent window series in the succulent world, is deeply sought after by plant enthusiasts for its crystal-clear leaves. However, many novices often damage the plants due to improper care after receiving the jade fan. This article will systematically analyze the six key elements of jade fan care, from environmental regulation to daily management.
Three elements of environmental regulation
Control of light intensity
The jade fan has a typical dual requirement for light: it needs bright scattered light of 2000-3000 lux to maintain the transparency of the window surface and is afraid of direct sunlight exceeding 40000 lux at noon. It is recommended to use a lace curtain with 70% light blocking in combination with an east-facing windowsill to ensure 4-6 hours of soft light exposure every day.
Temperature and humidity management
The ideal growth temperature range should be controlled between 18-24℃, with a day-night temperature difference of 5℃ being optimal. In winter, it is necessary to maintain an overwintering temperature of over 10℃, and in summer, use a water curtain or humidifier to increase the humidity to 60%-70%. Special note: when the temperature exceeds 28℃, a forced ventilation system needs to be started.
Substrate formula optimization
Using the golden ratio of red jade soil (40%) + pumice (30%) + peat (20%) + activated carbon (10%), to ensure that the substrate EC value is stable between 0.8-1.2mS/cm. New soil should be changed every spring to prevent salt accumulation.
Three key points of daily maintenance
Advanced watering skills
In spring and autumn, follow the principle of "watering when completely dry", and implement the immersion pot method when the weight of the potting soil is reduced by 2/3, with the water temperature needing to be the same as the room temperature. In the summer dormancy period, change to spraying water, giving a small amount of water along the pot wall twice a week, keeping the substrate slightly moist.
Scientific fertilization plan
In the growing season, apply a special succulent fertilizer with a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium ratio of 3:6:12 every month, combined with 500 times diluted kelp extract. Before stopping fertilization in winter, apply calcium and magnesium fertilizer to enhance cold resistance, especially avoiding the use of chlorine-containing fertilizers.
Efficient technology of闷养 (fermentation culture)
Use a transparent acrylic cover to create a microclimate environment, and open the cover for ventilation from 10:00 to 14:00 every day. During the fermentation culture period, the use of LED grow lights (color temperature 4000K) can significantly improve the transparency of the window surface, but the temperature inside the cover needs to be monitored not to exceed 26℃.
After mastering the above maintenance system, it is recommended to regularly observe the plant's condition: a healthy jade fan should show a uniform jade green color, with new leaves growing 0.5-1cm per month. If the window surface becomes foggy, the light needs to be adjusted immediately; if the leaves turn red, it is a sign of insufficient fertilizer.
