Flying dragon watering method
As a star species in the succulent plant world, Euphorbia stellata is popular among gardening enthusiasts for its unique star-shaped shape. Scientific watering management is the core link in maintaining dragon plants, which directly affects root development and plant shape. This paper will systematically analyze the full-cycle watering operation specifications of Feilong based on plant physiological characteristics and combined with the changes of the four seasons. Four core elements for watering dragon plants Water management during planting period Newly planted dragons need to use the tidal soil pot method, and the first water supply should be controlled within 50ml. Use a pointed spout to slowly apply water along the edge of the basin to keep the substrate in a slightly moist state (water content is about 30%) to avoid stagnant water causing root rot. It is recommended to mix rooting powder solution (diluted 1:1000) for root-fixing water irrigation to promote the rapid development of capillary roots. During the growth period, water control is maintained in the spring and autumn seasons, and the watering cycle of 7-10 days is maintained, and the amount of watering each time is 1/3 of the volume of the basin. The dipping basin method (the water level reaches 1/4 of the basin height) can ensure uniform penetration of water, and the moisture content of the substrate should be controlled at 40-50%. The high temperature period in summer (30-35℃) can be shortened to watering once every 5 days, and the air humidity can be maintained with morning and evening leaf spray (atomization rate>80%). Winter maintenance management in special seasons requires strict compliance with the principle of "low temperature water control." When the room temperature is less than 15℃, the watering interval should be extended to 20-25 days. Use a water temperature meter to monitor water temperature to ensure that the difference between irrigation water temperature and room temperature is ≤3℃. The monthly watering amount of heating rooms in the north can be halved (about 30ml), and combined with ceramsite paving to reduce water evaporation. The water quality selection standard recommends using soft water with a pH of 6.0 -6.5 for irrigation. Rainwater is collected or purified water is best used after standing for 24 hours. Avoid using tap water directly, as chlorine in water can cause damage to root epidermal cells. Regularly (quarterly) use an EC value detection pen to monitor the substrate salt concentration. When the value exceeds 1.2ms/cm, leaching and rinsing should be carried out.
A scientific watering system needs to be combined with the dynamic adjustment of plant conditions, and accurate judgment can be made by observing the fullness of the dragon ribs (expansion>90% when the water content is sufficient) and the gloss of the skin (wrinkles appear when there is water shortage). It is recommended to use a smart soil hygrometer to continuously maintain the substrate humidity within the golden range of 30-50%, which can effectively prevent root diseases and help the dragon plant show a perfect star shape.
