Fleshy Copper Pot Plant Introduction

The Copper Pot is a small variety with several different types, each with a distinct appearance and Latin name. The variety in the picture maintains a perennial green color, with convex, semi-transparent patterns on the plant surface. In the sunlight, the semi-transparent patterns may have a slight reddish tint. The center of the fleshy leaves has a small opening, which is the window for flowering.

The Copper Pot has clear window patterns, slightly tall plants, and is easy to grow in clusters, making the entire plant look very beautiful. The Copper Pot sheds 1-2 to 3 heads each year and is prone to death if not properly cared for, or some heads may die. The flowers are light pink. Cross-pollination, day-blooming type. Dormant in summer, grows in other seasons. Flowering period is in autumn. The shedding period is similar to that of living stones, but it is longer. During the shedding period, expose to more sunlight and less water. By the end of April to June, it will generally finish shedding. If watered during this period, the shedding period will extend to the entire summer. The shedding of the Copper Pot involves the outer old skin drying up, providing nutrients to the new plant. When the old skin is as thin as a wing, it is considered fully shed.

The planting material for the Copper Pot is a mixture of coal slag with a small amount of peat, also mixed with a little red jade soil and orchid stone. The planting material focuses on drainage and breathability. This variety is not heat-resistant and needs to be shaded in summer. March is the shedding period and can be exposed to direct sunlight. After shedding is complete, watering is needed. Although small, this variety requires little water, and watering is not frequent, usually not soaking the pot. Shaded and placed in a bright, well-ventilated area with scattered light throughout the summer, only a small amount of water is given, as too much will cause rot.

In autumn, when temperatures drop, watering can be resumed gradually. At this time, they will bloom beautiful light pink flowers. If the plants are full, no additional watering is needed. Avoid low temperatures in winter to prevent frostbite. In a dry potting mix, -3 degrees Celsius is not a problem. There is a significant difference between the north and south, and plant enthusiasts should adjust their care based on their own environment. Propagation can be done through seeding or dividing heads. The fleshy cone looks beautiful when grown in clusters. The pot of Copper Pot shown here was raised from 4 heads and has grown to many heads over the years.
