Euphorbia meloformis, belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family and Euphorbia millii genus, is native to the Cape Province of South Africa. The plant is small and spherical, mostly solitary, but over time, it can produce offsets from the base. It has a carrot-shaped fleshy root, with the body being gray-green or green, featuring dark white crisscross stripes, which are denser near the top. The body has 8 ridges, with circular leaf marks and brown small obtuse teeth on the ridge, with the teeth on the lateral buds being more prominent. The flower stems of Guiqingyu are tall and clustered, with yellow flowers, cross-pollinated, and easily hybridized with Euphorbia obesa. The top flower peduncles are semi-woody and can remain for a long time. The sap of Guiqingyu is white and toxic, do not ingest. Try not to touch the sap coming out of the wounds, as it can easily cause skin allergies.
