The floral patterned ceiba is a perennial succulent plant with a thick base. The stem base is irregularly swollen, block-shaped, succulent, with a gray outer skin and light green patterns, the epidermis cracked, storing a large amount of water. Terminal green short branches, usually not reaching 1m in height. Palmately compound leaves are alternate, the smaller leaves are obovate, and the leaves fall off during the dormant period. The flowers are white (some sources call them purplish red), with long filaments, blooming at the end of branches during the growing period. The capsules are large and elliptical in shape. It prefers a warm, dry climate with plenty of sunshine. It is not cold-tolerant and does not tolerate waterlogging. It thrives in fertile, loose sandy loam soil with good drainage. It is a rare and interesting succulent plant in China, which can be potted or arranged in botanical gardens for display.
