Methods of Propagation for Weeping Cherry Blossom
Today's plant experience shares knowledge about the propagation of weeping cherry blossom, the methods of propagating weeping cherry blossom. Next, the site editor will introduce the methods to netizens.
The propagation of weeping cherry blossom usually adopts methods such as cutting, dividing, and layering.
1. Cutting
Spring cutting is commonly used for weeping cherry blossom propagation, usually carried out during the Jingzhe period in a greenhouse. First, fill a pot with loose sandy soil, then take 12-16 cm long lateral branches from the base of the mother plant, insert them into the potting soil, with the depth being about 1/3 to 1/2 of the branch length. Then slightly compact the soil, water thoroughly, and place it in a shaded area. Keep the soil moist regularly, and after about 3 months, roots will form.
After Qingming, move it out of the greenhouse and place it in a sunny and windless area. After the beginning of summer, check the root growth; if the plant grows to more than 25 cm, pinching is necessary. Ten days later, apply the first top dressing (diluted ripe dung liquid); after the summer solstice, change the pot; move it indoors at the beginning of winter. If the potting soil is dry, water it a little but not too much. Move it out of the greenhouse the following Qingming and it will soon bloom.
Summer cutting is usually done after the summer solstice. First, select medium-sized branches from the mother plant (the base has started to lignify), cut branches with 2-3 leaves, and insert them into the potting soil (as described above). After 4-5 weeks, roots will form. At this time, gradually increase sunlight and keep the potting soil moist. Move it into a low-temperature greenhouse before winter (do not keep it warm). It will bloom the following year.
2. Dividing
The method of dividing is simple. In March, gently separate the small seedlings that have sprouted at the base of the mother plant, taking care to preserve the fibrous roots of the separated branches, cut off the stem tips, and plant them in a预先 prepared pot, keeping the potting soil moist. Keep the plant in a greenhouse in winter and shaded in summer, and apply fertilizer solution appropriately. It can bloom within 2 years.
3. Layering
Layering is most suitable from the beginning of summer to the summer solstice. During layering, select 1-2 small branches around the mother plant, bend them, and bury them in the soil, about 12-16 cm deep, leaving most of the branch tips still exposed above the ground. Cut them away from the mother plant after the following Qingming and plant them in a new pot.
