What kinds of flowers are suitable for family breeding

An article on life knowledge, discussing what flowers are suitable for family breeding and introducing six types of green plants and flowers that are suitable for home care. It's some very useful tips worth collecting!

Nowadays, people's living standards are gradually improving, and many keep several pots of flowers or green plants at home for care. However, due to work limitations and family reasons, it is not possible to nurture flowers as carefully as in a greenhouse. What flowers are more suitable for home care, and which require simple maintenance throughout the year without too much management?

In the south, the temperature is mild all year round without low temperatures, but it's different in the north where winter temperatures are very low. Indoor temperatures are not very high, but humans and most plants can adapt. Today, I will recommend several plants that are suitable for indoor breeding in the north and can grow well throughout the year with simple care.

1. Bougainvillea.

Bougainvillea is a type of easy-to-care-for green plant. The maintenance is very simple. It is a woody vine plant. To keep it healthy, you just need to provide it with good soil. I usually mix nutrient-rich soil and river sand in a 1:1 ratio, then place it in the sunniest spot, watering it thoroughly when the potting soil is almost dry, and regularly supplementing with fertilizer. This allows it to grow and bloom continuously. Pruning promptly after flowering and supplementing fertilizer can make it bloom twice. However, when choosing a variety, it's best to choose Angus or Green Leaf Orange, avoiding Green Leaf Red, Small Leaf Purple, and Green Leaf Water Red, as these three varieties are rather lazy. Other varieties can bloom continuously in normal home care, provided the temperature is kept above 20 degrees. In the north, if the temperature drops below 10 degrees in winter, the leaves may fall. Keeping the potting soil slightly moist and placing it in a well-lit area will help it survive the winter.

2. Christmas Cactus.

Christmas Cactus has been popular in the market in recent years and is a common perennial flower for home care. Its natural blooming season is during the New Year, which is winter. It doesn't require high temperatures in winter, just about 10 degrees to grow and bloom normally. Christmas Cactus must be planted in loose and breathable soil. I usually mix river sand and nutrient-rich soil in a 1:1 ratio, and there's no problem with growing Christmas Cactus. The care is very simple. Excessive sun exposure in summer can burn the leaves, so it can be shaded by 50% in summer, while in the other three seasons, it should be exposed to plenty of sunlight. The watering principle is to water thoroughly when the soil is half-dry, as its root system is shallow. If the soil is completely dry before watering, it can damage the capillary roots. Ensuring proper ventilation and regularly supplementing with fertilizer during the growing season with nitrogen-based fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium-rich fertilizer during the flowering season can promote continuous growth and beautiful blooming with full pots.

3. Cactus.

Cactus is quite common in the market. I've raised nearly 20,000 cacti of various varieties. However, to make cacti bloom, they need plenty of sunlight, loose and breathable soil, and watering thoroughly when the soil is dry. This will help you grow healthy cacti and make them bloom. Some friends say that cacti with spines are not suitable for home care, especially with children, but there are many varieties without spines, such as Lianfengyu and Xingdou. There are also soft-spined varieties like Feihuayu. These cacti bloom beautifully and have a strong blooming ability. Keeping a pot doesn't take up much space and they can bloom continuously with minimal watering and fertilizing. They are also less prone to pests and diseases, making them very suitable for home care.

4. Chinese Rose.

Chinese Rose is a typical southern flower with a strong blooming ability. If the temperature can be maintained between 15 to 20 degrees, it will bloom continuously throughout the year. It's very easy to care for, just place it in the sunniest spot, provide it with loose and breathable soil, and regularly supplement with multi-element fertilizer, 2 to 3 times a month. With the right temperature, you can grow a Chinese Rose that will bloom continuously without interruption. Although the single bloom period is short, it has a large number of flowers, blooming for a whole year.

5. Geranium.

Geranium, also known as绣球 (Xiuqiu), is called海棠 in our rural flower market because it blooms all year round. Some vendors call it Si Ji海棠 (Four Season海棠), but it's actually geranium. It can bloom all year round as long as the temperature is maintained around 15 degrees. The care is very simple, even if you plant it in garden soil, it can grow well, but it needs regular fertilizing. The main point of its care is to avoid letting it get rained on in summer and to water it thoroughly when the potting soil is dry, not when it's just slightly dry on the surface. High summer temperatures can cause root rot. Normal watering and fertilizing in other seasons, with plenty of sunlight, will allow it to bloom continuously. You can use multi-element fertilizer, ensuring good ventilation. If you grow a small geranium plant for a year, it will continuously grow and bloom, eventually becoming a large flowering plant that is very beautiful.
