When it's time for flowers to bloom, people first notice gardenias at the flower market. This is because gardenias have flowers that are very eye-catching, pure and white. Especially now, the sweet fragrance of gardenias and the approaching restlessness are everywhere. This fragrance is not seductive or strong, but very soothing and comfortable. The gardenias in my home are blooming particularly well, so I have specially compiled some issues to consider when growing gardenias and share them with you today.
1. Insufficiently humid environment
Gardenias thrive in a humid environment, so when growing gardenias, we must provide a good living environment for the flowers. However, in the dry climate of the north, especially when indoor heating is used in winter, gardenias can become dried out indoors.
Therefore, when growing gardenias in the north, it is essential to provide them with a sufficiently humid environment. We can place a layer of plastic bag around the gardenia, which will cause water droplets to form inside the plastic bag, keeping the gardenia in a sufficiently humid state. If all goes well, the leaves of the gardenia will become greener.
2. Potting soil
Usually, gardenias bought from the flower market are packaged in plastic pots, so the first thing to do after bringing the gardenia home is to change its pot. However, the next day, the gardenia may start to wilt and be close to death. Some friends find this phenomenon hard to understand, but to me, it is normal. This is because the timing of changing the potting soil and pot was not mastered.

When we first bring the flowers home, we should not rush to repot them, because the plants also need an adaptation period to a new environment. We should wait until the flowers are budding and the petals fall off before moving them to another pot.
4. Gardenias affected by pests leading to death
Sometimes, when we buy gardenias, we may notice that the edges of their leaves are yellow and very dry. This is usually because the gardenias have been infested with pests. How can we determine if the gardenias we purchased have pests? We can observe the leaves of the gardenias; if there are white spots on the leaves, then the gardenias are definitely affected by pests. We can also dig into the potting soil of the flowers; if we find many small white balls in the potting soil, it means the gardenias have pests.
In this case, we need to move the gardenias outdoors for pesticide treatment, which will quickly kill the pests.
