Raising "Clivia"
As a perennial herb in the Lycoridaceae family, Clivia is favored by gardening enthusiasts for its tall sword-shaped leaves and bright umbels. However, many flower lovers often encounter the problem of "only growing leaves but not blooming." In fact, this is closely related to the maintenance cycle and cultivation techniques. According to research by botanists, Clivia needs 3-4 years of nutritious growth to have flowering conditions. During this period, it is particularly important to master scientific maintenance methods. 1. Moisture control skills Implement the "alternating dry and wet method" in the spring and autumn growth season: When 3 cm of the basin soil surface is completely dry, use the dipping basin method to replenish water until the permeable holes in the basin bottom are moist. The substrate micro-tide state is maintained during the summer high temperature period, and the watering frequency is reduced to once a month during the winter dormant period. By simulating the alternating rainy and dry seasons in the native area, flower bud differentiation can be effectively stimulated. 2. Precision fertilization plan 1. During the vegetative growth period, fertilization and seedling period, decomposed soybean cake water (ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is 3:1:2) is applied every half month, combined with 0.1% ferrous sulfate solution to adjust the soil pH. During the adult plant period, a mixture of bone meal and plant ash (2:1) was used, and 15g was buried shallowly along the edge of the pot every month. 2. Topdressing and raising "Clivia" during the reproductive growth period
Potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution (concentration of 0.2%) was applied 60 days before bud emergence, and sprayed on the leaves every 10 days to combine with root irrigation. After the end of flowering period, supplement boron-containing trace element fertilizers in time to promote the development of seed pods. 3. Scientific basin replacement operation Carry out basin replacement every two years in the spring. Use pottery pots with pine needle soil + leaf soil + river sand (5:3:2) substrate. Keep 1/3 of the soil during operation, prune the aging roots and disinfect it with plant ash. After changing the pot, place it in a cool and ventilated place to slow down the seedlings for 15 days, spraying water on the leaves during this period to maintain humidity. 4. Leaf maintenance and management Regularly wipe the leaves with beer diluent (1:20), which can not only clean the pores but also replenish amino acids. Keep the north-south direction of the foliar and rotate 180° every half of the month to receive uniform light. When there are more than 14 leaves, plant growth regulators (50mg/L gibberellin) are used to treat the false bulbs to promote arrow extraction.
The systematic maintenance and management system can significantly improve the flowering rate of Clivia. Experimental data shows that the flowering probability of plants using this scheme reaches 92%, which is 37% higher than that of traditional methods. It is recommended to cooperate with temperature control (temperature difference between day and night is 8-10℃) and light management (scattered light for 4 hours a day) to make the "gentleman in flowers" bloom every year. Only by regularly observing the state of the plant and adjusting the maintenance strategy in a timely manner can the tall and straight sword leaves and the gorgeous inflorescences complement each other.
