Several Common Diseases of Clivia Miniata
This article introduces the Clivia Miniata section of the Flower Clinic, several common diseases of Clivia Miniata, which will surely help you. Let's learn about them together!
Several common diseases of Clivia Miniata include bacterial sheath blight, soft rot, and (T-J) disease, among others.
(1) Bacterial sheath blight. When this disease occurs, the stem near the roots shows irregular water-soaked brown spots, the cortex softens and rots, and then white silky mycelium spreads at the root soil surface, later forming small sclerotia, finally becoming mustard-like and spreading to the entire base, rotting and necrotizing.

Control methods: ① Before potting, the culture soil should be disinfected. A simple method is to place the culture soil at a temperature of 60°C for 24 hours; ② Always pay attention to the soil surface, remove any white fungal threads found and burn them, and sprinkle some lime powder around the affected area for disinfection; ③ In the early stage of the disease, pour a 50% wettable powder of carbendazim 500 times solution on the stem base of the plant and the surrounding soil, once a week, 2-3 times should be sufficient.
(2) Soft rot. The pathogen often invades through wounds. When the disease occurs, light yellow water-soaked spots appear on the leaves, which then expand into regular spots, causing the leaves to become brown and soft腐烂 matter, with bacterial fluid oozing from the wound.
Control methods: ① Once this disease is detected, immediately separate the affected plants, remove the surrounding culture soil to expose the affected area, remove the rotting leaves, scrape off the腐烂 part with a disinfected knife, expose to sunlight, and maintain ventilation and dryness; ② If many plants are腐烂, all affected tissue must be removed, soak in a 5% potassium permanganate solution for 1 hour, rinse and dry with water, apply wood ash to the cut, and plant in a new pot in a well-ventilated area with moderate temperature; ③ For drug treatment, a solution of penicillin, streptomycin, or terramycin diluted 4000-5000 times with water can be sprayed or applied to the affected area, which can be somewhat effective.
(3) (T-J) disease. This disease often occurs in rainy, humid, and stuffy seasons, with the affected areas usually at the leaf tips and edges. Initially, the leaves show moist brown spots, which then expand into elliptical and wavy main spots, surrounded by yellow, and later gradually wither and dry. Overly moist potting soil and excessive nitrogen fertilizer can trigger this disease.
Control methods: ① Provide the pot with a well-ventilated and well-lit environment, keeping the soil slightly moist and not overwatering. Increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizers and control nitrogen fertilizers. ② When early signs of the disease are detected, immediately use a 50% wettable powder of carbendazim diluted 800 times with water to make a solution, or use a 60% (T-J) thiram solution diluted 1000 times with water, spray every 6 days, 3-5 times should show effects.
