Hydroponic method for Drip Water Guanyinian: Drip Water Guanyinian, also known as Alocasia, has other common names like Guanyinian and Wild Taro. It belongs to the Araceae family, Alocasia genus. It is native to the southern and southwestern parts of China. The leaves are large and cover the plant, remaining green throughout the year. It grows in clusters and can reach over 1 meter in height. The corm, leaves, and stem resemble the edible taro. Today, I will introduce the hydroponic method for Drip Water Guanyinian.

Hydroponic method for Drip Water Guanyinian:

1. Select healthy Drip Water Guanyinian plants without diseases or pests as the mother material for hydroponics. Remove the old and dead leaves from the stem, leaving only two to three new leaves; if the leaves are not attractive, you can also leave only the topmost leaf stalk. Loosen the soil in the pot, remove the plant from the pot, and rinse the entire plant thoroughly, making sure there is no soil left, as soil can easily pollute the water and bacteria can cause root rot.

2. After rinsing the mother plant, cut off all the soil-bound roots from the base, carefully inspect the stem for rot or pest damage; use a knife to remove the softened or decayed parts of the stem until reaching the woody part, removing all decayed matter or pests. After pruning, fix the plant in a planting basket of appropriate size based on the size and shape of the plant. Soak the entire planting basket in a 3% to 5% methylthiophanate solution or carbendazim solution for 5 to 10 minutes for disinfection; then place it in a shady area to dry.

3. Plant the dried mother plant along with the planting basket in a propagation bed with perlite, controlling the moisture, nutrients, temperature, and lighting. In about 10 to 15 days, the initial roots (original hydroponic roots) will grow.

4. When the initial roots grow to 2-3 centimeters, they can be moved to an induction pool for inducing hydroponic roots. At this stage, the adjustment of dissolved oxygen and EC values in the water is crucial to the success of the induction, and the nutrient solution ratio also needs to be adjusted accordingly. When the hydroponic roots reach a certain number and length, indicating adaptation to aquatic growth, they can be transferred to a bottle for static hydroponic cultivation.

The comprehensive knowledge on how to cultivate Guanyinian and the hydroponic cultivation methods of Guanyinian introduced above are hoped to be of help to you.
