Ligustrum quihoui, a deciduous or semi-evergreen shrub, grows to a height of 1—3 meters. The flowering period is from May to July, and the fruiting period is from August to November. Ligustrum quihoui is native to central, eastern, and southwestern China. It prefers sunlight, is somewhat shade-tolerant, and relatively cold-tolerant, and can be cultivated in the open in the North China region. Ligustrum quihoui is an important green hedge material in landscape gardening and can also be used as a rootstock for osmanthus, syringa, and other trees.
