How to Revive a Peace Tree
As a common indoor ornamental leaf plant, the peace tree is deeply loved for its lush green leaves and beautiful meaning. There is no need to panic when you find that the plant is wilting and turning yellow. Systematic rescue measures can completely restore its vitality. This article will elaborate on the four key steps to revive a peace tree, helping you to scientifically care for evergreen plants.
I. Pruning Branches and Wound Treatment
1.1 Standards for Pruning Leaves
When only the branches and leaves of the peace tree are withered but the trunk remains alive (green tissue is visible when the epidermis is scraped), all withered and yellow branches should be cut immediately. Retain 2-3 healthy buds at the base and use a pruning shear disinfected with alcohol to cut at a 45-degree angle.
1.2 Wound Protection Treatment
Immediately after pruning, apply carbendazim powder to the cut and spray the plant with mancozeb solution (at a 1:800 ratio) for full disinfection. Move the plant to a semi-shaded and well-ventilated area, maintaining an environmental humidity of 60%-70%.
II. Root Repair and Potting Techniques
2.1 Root Health Diagnosis
If the base of the plant feels loose when shaken, check the roots by removing the pot. Healthy roots should be white and elastic, while rotting roots are brown and crumble when pinched.
2.2 Root Pruning Standard
Use a disinfected scissor to cut 1 cm above the rotting part, leaving the main root at least 15 cm long. After pruning, soak the roots in potassium permanganate solution (at a 1:2000 ratio) for 30 minutes, then let them dry for 12 hours before repotting.
III. Light Adjustment and Temperature Control Management
During the revival period, maintain scattered light (2000-3000 lux) to prevent new buds from being burned by direct sunlight. Keep the environmental temperature between 20-28°C, and take insulation measures in winter to prevent frostbite from low temperatures.
IV. Water and Fertilizer Management Plan
Water thoroughly after repotting for the first time, then maintain slightly moist soil (moisture content of 30%-40%). Stop fertilizing for the first two months, and after new leaves sprout, apply a diluted (1000 times) leaf plant-specific nutrient solution every half month.
Through a systematic rescue plan, combined with scientific post-care, a peace tree can usually recover its growth vitality within 2-3 months. The key is to grasp the pruning timing, strictly follow the disinfection process, and continuously observe the plant's condition to adjust the care strategy to ensure long-term health of the green plant.
