Plum Blossom Summer Maintenance Tips, Key Points for Managing Plum Blossoms in Summer

How to raise plum blossoms in summer

As the first of the most famous traditional flowers in China, the maintenance and management of plum blossoms in summer directly affects the health of the plant and the quality of flowering in the coming year. Mastering scientific maintenance methods can not only help plum blossoms spend the summer safely, but also lay the foundation for buds and flowering in autumn and winter. 1. Light and temperature control 1.1 Reasonable lighting strategy Plum blossoms are positive tree species and need to maintain scattered light for more than 6 hours per day. It is recommended to use the "morning sun and noon shade" method: receive full sunshine before 9 a.m., and use 50% sunshade net protection from noon to 3 p.m. to avoid burning leaves by high temperatures. Potted plants can be placed on the east-facing balcony, and locally planted plum trees can be planted with deciduous trees on the west side to form natural shade. 1.2 Cooling and humidifying measures When the temperature continues to be higher than 35℃, foliar spraying needs to be carried out in the morning and evening, combined with laying wet ceramsites around the plants or setting up water trays to reduce the temperature of the small environment by 2-3℃ through evaporation. Pay attention to ensuring good ventilation after spraying to avoid inducing fungal diseases. II. Fine management of water and fertilizer 2.1 Scientific watering cycle In summer, the watering method of "seeing dry and seeing wet" shall be adopted, and water shall be poured after the surface of pot soil is 2cm dry. Deep irrigation is carried out once every 5-7 days for plum trees planted in the field, and continuous irrigation is carried out for more than 30 minutes each time to ensure that water penetrates into the root system layer at a depth of 40cm. Drainage ditches need to be excavated during the rainy season to prevent stagnant water and root rot. 2.2 Precision fertilization scheme: decomposed soybean cake fertilizer (diluted 1:50) was applied in early June, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer (potassium dihydrogen phosphate 1000 times solution) was applied in mid-July, and fertilization was stopped after flower bud differentiation period in August. Pay special attention to the need to suspend all fertilizer supplies during the "dog days"(July to August) to avoid root burning. 3. Modeling and Health Management 3.1 Summer pruning essentials focus on cutting off the "four branches": dead branches (fully cut), crossed branches (keep strong branches), pest and insect branches (cut to 2 cm below healthy parts), and overlapping branches (keep at intervals). Apply wound healing agent immediately after trimming, and disinfect the tool with 75% alcohol to prevent bacterial infection. 3.2 For pest and disease control, maintain a ventilation spacing of more than 80cm between plants, and alternately spray mancozeb (800 times solution) and carbendazim (1000 times solution) every month to prevent diseases. It was found that aphids can be sprayed with (Y-J) pesticides, and red spiders can be controlled with avermectin. The application time is in the evening and rainy days are avoided.

Through scientific light, temperature, water and fertilizer control combined with refined management, plum blossoms can not only spend the summer safely, but also accumulate sufficient nutrients. In the cold winter season, carefully maintained plum trees will surely repay your hard cultivation with full trees and flowers. It is recommended to make a monthly maintenance log to record plant changes and gradually form a personalized maintenance plan.
