What causes the uneven blooming of bougainvillea?
This article provides a detailed explanation of the reasons for the uneven blooming of bougainvillea, so let's take a look and understand together.
What causes the uneven blooming of bougainvillea?
In this issue, we are sharing bougainvillea, as it is now the blooming season for bougainvillea. I believe many flower friends' bougainvillea have bloomed very vigorously. However, the result is that one side blooms more vigorously while the other side does not bloom at all. So, what is the reason for this.
In this issue, we are sharing bougainvillea, as it is now the blooming season for bougainvillea. I believe many flower friends' bougainvillea have bloomed very vigorously. However, the result is that one side blooms more vigorously while the other side does not bloom at all. So, what is the reason for this.
Today, I am going to share with you that my pot of bougainvillea blooms more vigorously on this side, while this side blooms much later, and it looks very unsatisfactory. What is the reason for this? It is mainly due to watering, fertilizing, and lighting during our daily maintenance.
1. Lighting
Bougainvillea is a plant that loves light. If the light it receives is uneven, with only this side receiving sufficient light, then it will accumulate nutrients through more photosynthesis, causing the flower buds on this side to differentiate faster. The side with less light will naturally bloom later.
2. Fertilizing
Because during its blooming season, we usually use some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, like this monopotassium phosphate which is a high-phosphorus and high-potassium fertilizer. Often, the fertilizer solution is not sprayed evenly, causing one side to absorb well while the other side does not receive sufficient nutrients. As a result, the flower bud differentiation is delayed, and blooming is slower.
3. Water
Because in the flowering area, we need to control the water supply to promote rapid flower bud differentiation. However, when watering, we often pour water all over the front, causing this side to absorb more water.
While the soil on this side, due to water control, is relatively dry. If it is not loosened, water will flow directly into the cracks, causing it not to absorb water, which will affect the growth of the plant. In December, when we water it, we cannot use tap water directly; we need to adjust the water quality before watering.
Because bougainvillea is a typical acid-loving flower, using tap water directly will affect its blooming amount and cause the flower buds to wither prematurely. To adjust the water quality, we add EM complex original liquid to the water, which is a microbial agent. Under the action of these agents, some organic matter in the soil will quickly decompose, allowing the bougainvillea to absorb quickly.
