Techniques for planting and managing the wealth tree
Today, I will explain in detail the planting and management techniques of the wealth tree and the related experience of flower planting for understanding the maintenance tips of the wealth tree. Next, the editor will introduce it to everyone.
The wealth tree is said to be one of the most difficult indoor green plants to grow, mainly because the leaves always have problems, such as yellowing, drying, and spots, etc. These problems are mostly related to watering. Watering the wealth tree is particularly difficult, as it is highly drought-resistant, but people can't help but want to water it, and as a result, it often dies within a month!
Today, let's talk about how to take good care of the wealth tree!
How to prepare soil for the wealth tree?
The problem of watering needs to be solved from the root, which includes soil preparation and pot selection. Soil preparation is quite flexible, nutrient-rich soil can be used, but coconut bricks should be used sparingly because they are too light and may cause the plant to fall over. I've seen some flower friends use a lot of pearlite mixed with humus soil, and they manage to grow the wealth tree very well. Garden soil can be used, but it should be mixed sparingly, as it is not very breathable.
What kind of pot should be used for the wealth tree?
The pot material and size are important. It can be a plastic pot or a ceramic pot, but it must not be too tall, deep, or large. It should be smaller, as shallow pots are better for controlling fertilization and have better breathability than deep pots. If you don't have a shallow pot, you can place several layers of gravel, ceramsite, or other granular materials at the bottom of the deep pot as a drainage layer.
How to water the wealth tree?
The wealth tree is undoubtedly a drought-resistant plant, so watering should be minimal and "lazy." It's fine to water once every one or two months, and only water when the potting soil is very dry.
Do not water excessively when watering; its root system is not developed. Unlike other flowers that need to be watered thoroughly, it doesn't need the entire pot to be soaked. Only water slowly along the edge of the pot when the soil is completely dry, until the fibrous roots are slightly moist. Especially for plants in tall pots, once they are soaked, poor ventilation and drainage problems can quickly lead to root rot.

Lighting and ventilation for the wealth tree
The wealth tree is a plant that loves light and can be placed in a well-ventilated area with scattered light on the balcony during spring, autumn, and winter. More exposure to the sun will make the leaves look lively. In summer, provide some shade, but ventilation must be good. Natural wind can speed up the dry-wet cycle, making the roots grow stronger and the leaves less prone to diseases and pests.
How to fertilize the wealth tree?
The wealth tree does not like fertilizer, and it's better to use a light fertilizer rather than a heavy one. Before planting, you can mix a small amount of deeply fermented organic manure into the soil, and you don't need to fertilize at other times; or you can bury some soybeans in the soil every half a year. The soybeans should be cooked before burial, as they are an excellent nitrogen fertilizer that can make the leaves dark and glossy.
The number of soybeans to bury depends on the size of the pot and the plant. If the pot is not large, burying 8-10 beans is enough. Do not rush to give soybeans to newly sprouted wealth trees, as it may cause fertilizer burn.
Why do the leaves of the wealth tree turn yellow?
The leaves of the wealth tree turn yellow mostly due to excessive watering. Some people think it's a lack of iron and frequently water with ferrous sulfate, but it's not necessary. Too much ferrous sulfate can cause the leaf tips to burn. If you're worried about iron deficiency, you can place a few rusted nails in the pot. If new tender leaves turn yellow, it may be due to a lack of light, so increase the light exposure appropriately!
Leaf tips that dry out like in the picture below may be due to dry air or too much moisture in the potting soil and poor root aeration.
