How to water camellia flowers when they bloom
As one of the top ten famous traditional flowers in China, camellia is deeply loved by gardening enthusiasts for its gorgeous flowers and long flowering period. However, many flower lovers often shorten the flowering period due to improper watering during the maintenance process. This article will systematically analyze the scientific water supply rules during the flowering period. 1. Watering management of camellia flowers during flowering period 1. To control the watering frequency and amount of water, the soil humidity must be kept in the range of 60-70% during the full flowering period of camellia. It is recommended to adopt the "three-look" judgment method: water needs to be replenished when the surface soil turns white; second, water needs to be watered when the weight of the flowerpot becomes lighter; and third, when the leaves are slightly curled, irrigation should be carried out immediately. Water is poured once every 3 days in spring and autumn, and winter can be extended to 5-7 days. 2. Key points for water supply during special periods need to increase the amount of water by 20% during the bud expansion period, and watering should be completed before 9 a.m. In case of continuous rainy days, the watering amount should be reduced by 1/3. The bamboo stick insertion method can be used to detect the humidity of the basin soil. 2. Risk prevention and control of spraying water during camellia flowering period 1. Physiological damage caused by water spraying will accelerate the decomposition of the waxy layer on the surface of flowers when exposed to water. Experimental data show that the flowering period of water-sprayed plants is shortened by an average of 4.7 days. Residual water droplets can easily cause gray mold, especially for double-petal varieties. 2. An alternative to scientific humidification can use the tray water storage method: place a water tray filled with pebbles under the flower pot to keep the water surface out of contact with the bottom of the basin. Or use an ultrasonic humidifier to maintain the environmental humidity at around 65%. 3. Comprehensive maintenance system during flowering period 1. Light and temperature control ensure scattered light for 5 hours a day and shade is needed at noon. The optimal flowering temperature is 18-25℃, and controlling the temperature difference between day and night within 8℃ can prolong the flowering period. 2. Nutrient replenishment strategy Apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate (concentration 0.2%) every 15 days during flowering period, combined with alginate foliar fertilizer. Be careful to avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise it may lead to buds falling.
Through precise watering management, scientific humidity control and systematic maintenance plans, the flowering period of camellia can be extended to 3-4 months. It is recommended to establish a maintenance log to record each watering time, amount of water and plant response, and gradually master the personalized maintenance rhythm.
