How to repot orchids
You may not be familiar with the knowledge of repotting orchids in the field of green plants and flowers. Next, the editor of this site will introduce it to everyone.
The steps for repotting orchids are as follows:
① Carefully remove the orchid from the original pot. The method is: gently tap the sides of the pot with your hand until the soil is loose, then support the orchid and pot soil with five fingers, turn the pot upside down, and pour out the orchid and pot soil together.
② Clear the orchid leaves. First, wash the orchid seedlings with clean water. The old orchid seedlings should be separated and cultivated separately, as the old seedlings generally stop germinating when they are connected with strong seedlings, and will naturally die after a long time. Then divide the orchid leaves into about 3 seedlings per clump to facilitate germination. The method of dividing seedlings is: identify the connection point of the pseudobulb (commonly known as the road), hold the two sides of the orchid seedlings that need to be separated with both hands, twist them left and right repeatedly until they break. If the connection point is difficult to twist off, you can cut it with scissors. Be careful not to hurt the bud eyes on the pseudobulb during the operation.
③ Clear the bad roots. Trim off the decayed or broken orchid roots. Cut close to the growing point of the pseudobulb, making the wound as small as possible. If there are many unhealthy roots, you can boldly trim them, leaving 2-3 good roots on one orchid seedling. After trimming, it is best to apply a little charcoal powder or cigarette ash mixed with fungicide to the cut wound to prevent infection. After arranging, place it in a shady and well-ventilated place for 3-5 hours, and it can be planted when the wound is slightly dry and shrunken.
④ Wash the pot, put on the bottom cover, then place 1-2 cm deep small stones to prevent the orchid roots from extending out of the bottom of the pot. Gently place the orchid in the pot and grasp the height position. Leave more space for the direction of the new seedlings to allow new buds to develop. After placing the orchid seedlings, fill the orchid pot with the prepared orchid soil gradually according to the principle of coarse on top and fine on bottom, forming a bun shape that is lower on the sides and slightly higher in the middle. While filling, tap the pot wall to make the orchid soil stick to the orchid roots, and cover the surface with a layer of brick fragments or pygmy green.
⑤ Water thoroughly at one time and place it in a shady and well-ventilated place for 20-30 days, and it can be transferred to normal management.
