How to prune desert rose
A small knowledge of experience, introducing how to prune desert rose and teaching you the correct pruning methods for green plants and flowers of desert rose, the following editor will introduce to everyone.
Desert rose is a flowering plant that many people are raising. Firstly, its price is not very high, and secondly, it is relatively easy to care for, able to bloom continuously throughout the year. This makes everyone who sees it want to buy a few to raise at home. However, when raising it at home, with normal watering and fertilizing, it only blooms one or two flowers at a time, and it doesn't look beautiful. Is there something wrong with the operation?
In fact, if you want the desert rose to bloom more flowers, it doesn't matter if the seedlings are small or if there are few branches. We just need to prune them reasonably. If you master the pruning method, it can bloom more flowers and the flowering period will be longer. Today I will tell you about the pruning method of desert rose, and it needs to be combined with "3 elements" to become a "small flowering tree".
Pruning
If you buy a desert rose with few branches, one or two, even if you take good care of it later, it will only bloom from the top of these one or two branches. The flowers are not many and not beautiful, which makes it difficult for us to achieve the look of a blooming pot that we see others raise, so we need to prune.
When you buy a seedling, don't prune it first. Let it adapt to the pot, grow normally in your home, and when it starts to grow and the main stem is hard, then you can prune. When pruning, just keep three to five centimeters above the position where it last sprouted and cut off the top. After cutting, the wound will bleed water, wipe it slowly with a tissue until it stops bleeding, and then apply a healing agent or carbendazim on the wound to prevent infection.
How to prune desert rose
Pruning must be done on a sunny day, so that after pruning is completed, it will quickly grow lateral branches. The remaining three to five centimeter branches may grow two, three, or even four branches. No matter how many branches grow, when they reach six to ten centimeters in length and the main stem below is relatively thick, we prune again, also keeping three to five centimeters.
After pruning, since we have pruned many branches at once, each of the remaining branches can grow multiple lateral buds. After the lateral buds grow out, follow this method to prune continuously until you see many lateral buds on the top and the crown is full. At this point, we stop pruning, and it can quickly enter the flowering period. Then the flowers will bloom beautifully because the more lateral branches there are, the more flowers will bloom at the top of the branches, achieving the effect of a full pot.
When pruning, we must remember that there must be sufficient light, as new buds will only grow thicker and stronger with enough light, and there will be no excessive growth. Also, pruning should be done on a sunny day, and it should be during the vigorous growing season when the temperature is not lower than 20 degrees. This will result in more branches, and more flowers will bloom with more branches. Pruning should be combined with three elements: light, fertilizing, and watering.
