How to cultivate roses

A brief knowledge of experience, introducing you to how to cultivate roses and the planting methods and management of green plants and flowers. Next, our website editor will introduce to you.

Roses are a very romantic kind of flowers, symbolizing eternal love, often used as fresh cut flowers, and are the best choice to give to a girlfriend on Valentine's Day or during a proposal. However, roses as potted plants also have very high ornamental value, and the bright-colored roses can emit a faint fragrance when in bloom, which can soothe our烦躁 emotions and relieve stress. Keeping a pot at home is both beautiful and practical. Let's take a look at how to take care of potted roses at home together!

I. Soil

There is a saying in flower cultivation that goes, "To cultivate flowers, one must first cultivate the roots," without good root systems, it is difficult to grow roses well. An appropriate soil environment is a necessary condition for growing good roses. Roses prefer loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil, and of course, good breathability and water permeability are also essential.

Decayed leaf soil is the best choice for planting roses, as it is not only loose and breathable but also rich in nutrients. However, since decayed leaf soil retains water well, we also need to mix some granular soil into the decayed leaf soil to improve its drainage, only this kind of soil can properly care for the roots of the roses.

II. Watering

Whether a plant can survive depends on how well it is watered. Although roses are relatively drought-resistant, prolonged water deficiency can lead to the drying and death of their fine roots. If watered too much, the roots of the roses cannot breathe properly and are prone to rot, so it is very important to master the amount of watering.

Usually, in spring and autumn when the weather is relatively warm, it is also the growing period of roses. Only sufficient water can make them grow better, so we should water them thoroughly whenever we see the soil surface dry. However, in the extremely hot summer and the cold winter, roses will enter a dormant period with the change of temperature, their growth rate will slow down or even stop growing. At this time, their demand for water will naturally decrease significantly. Therefore, we should wait 2-3 days after the soil surface dries before watering the roses again, which will help the roses absorb water better.

III. Nutrition

If we say that whether a plant can survive depends on water, then whether it can be well-grown depends entirely on nutrition, especially for flowering plants like roses, which require ample nutrients. When planting roses, we should add some decomposed base fertilizer to the potting soil, which can provide all the nutrients needed for the roses during their growth period and make the soil looser and more breathable, preventing it from compacting.

During the growing seasons of spring and autumn, it is also necessary to apply top dressing in a timely manner. Only with sufficient nutrients can the roots of roses become stronger, and the flowers will bloom better. As soon as spring comes, we should apply some compound fertilizers like Huaduo No.2, which is rich in phosphorus and potassium elements, and every half month, we should water the roots with a well-diluted solution of potassium dihydrogen phosphate until the roses bloom. Other times, we should supplement them with a balanced compound fertilizer once a month. However, we should stop any form of fertilization immediately when the temperature is too high or too low, as it is very easy to cause fertilizer damage.
