When will Yushu bloom?

As a classic variety among succulent plants, Yushu flowering has always been the focus of attention of gardening enthusiasts. Its snow-white flowers and its green and thick leaves complement each other, but if you want to witness the blooming scenery of Yushu, you need to master special maintenance tips. This article will deeply analyze the flowering rules of Yushu from three dimensions: flowering cycle, environmental regulation, and daily maintenance. Analysis of Yushu flowering conditions The flowering time span Yushu flowering has obvious uncertainties. According to cultivation records, the flowering cycle span of adult plants can reach 3-8 years. Observation data from the Kunming Botanical Garden in 2018 showed that among the same batch of cuttage plants, the earliest individual took 42 months to blossom, and the latest took 96 months. The flowering period is mainly concentrated in summer and autumn (June to October). A single flower can last for 7-10 days, and the full flowering period of the whole plant can last for 2-3 months. Regional climate impact Yunnan can achieve winter flowering due to the small temperature difference throughout the year; if the northern region maintains a constant temperature above 15℃, the flowering time can also be extended. However, it should be noted that temperatures exceeding 30℃ will hinder flower bud differentiation. Yushu flowering maintenance techniques Light and temperature control In spring and autumn, 6 hours of direct light are required every day, and 50% sunshade net is used for protection in summer. During winter maintenance, it is recommended to maintain an environmental temperature of 12-18℃, combined with full sunshine, which can effectively promote flower bud formation. The temperature difference between day and night is controlled within the range of 8℃, which helps accumulate nutrients needed for flowering. Scientific management of water and fertilizer during the growth period (March to October), the principle of "dry and thorough irrigation" is adopted, and 2000 times dilution is applied every 15 days with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers (20-20-20). During the flower bud differentiation period, high-phosphate fertilizer (10-30-20) was used, and 0.1% boric acid solution was added for foliar spraying. It is recommended to use a mixed substrate with volcanic rock: peat soil: perlite =5:3:2 for substrate and basin replacement requirements, and 1/3 of the core soil is reserved when basin replacement is carried out every two years in spring. Adding bone meal (5g per liter of soil) as base fertilizer after changing pots can significantly increase the probability of flowering. The Yushu flowering promotion program can induce mature plants to blossom through 45 consecutive days of water control treatment (maintaining substrate humidity at 30%) and stimulation of temperature difference between morning and night. Immediately after flowering, potassium dihydrogen phosphate (1500 times liquid) is replenished, and old leaves are removed to concentrate nutrients. Pay attention to avoid moving the flowerpot to prevent falling flowers.

After systematic maintenance and management, the flowering rate of plants over five years old can be increased to 65%. It is recommended to use grafting method to graft Yushu scion onto Changshou flower rootstock, which can shorten the flowering period by 30%. As long as scientific methods are mastered, this "Iron Tree Brother" will eventually present an amazing white crown.
