After purchasing rose seedlings online, many gardening enthusiasts are unsure about how to properly acclimatize the seedlings. This article shares the experience of gardening enthusiasts with rose seedling acclimatization, and the entire process should be carried out in an environment without strong light and wind.

1. As soon as the rose seedlings arrive, remove the packaging and prepare several small pots (15X15cm), which can be made of clay, tile, or plastic. Porcelain pots are not recommended. Prepare the necessary tools: a dustpan, non-woven fabric, a spade, scissors, and a spray bottle (alternatives can also be used). Cut the non-woven fabric into small pieces to cover the bottom of the pots and prevent the loss of medium.

Prepare the medium, which is recommended for seedling growth. The basic components are peat, perlite, and vermiculite, in a ratio of approximately 2:1:1. It's best to use new, unused medium that has not been used for planting flowers and has not been fertilized. If old medium is used, it may contain fertilizer or root rot fungi, so it should be disinfected if necessary. Spray the dry medium with water while stirring. Do not spray it too wet; it should clump together but not release water when squeezed.

Place a layer of medium about 4 to 5 cm thick at the bottom of the small pots.

Remove the seedlings from their nutrient pots carefully, trying not to disturb the original soil clump. If it's a bit loose, you can place it on the ground and cut off the nutrient pot. Carefully place the rose seedling in the small pot.

Fill the small pot with the moistened medium. Cut off any flower buds first to encourage root growth. It doesn't matter if the flowers are not perfect. Remember to label the pots to avoid forgetting the variety of the rose seedlings.

Place the rose seedlings in a windowsill with scattered light and good ventilation. If the seedlings are in good condition, place them on the south-facing balcony; if not, place them on the north-facing balcony. The next day, water thoroughly to set the roots (check the moisture level of the soil clump; if it's very dry, water immediately).

The reason not to water thoroughly on the first day is that after long-distance transportation, the seedlings may be moist and闷, with some bacteria already thriving in the potting soil. Making it too wet may lead to root rot fungi infection and blackening of the stems. After two or three days, check the condition of the seedlings. If the leaves are firm, without yellowing or wilting, you can gradually move them outside for care.

After a week, try to expose the seedlings to full sunlight, and after two to three months, repot them into larger containers.
