Australian Cypress Propagation Methods
Abstract: This article introduces the propagation of Australian Cypress, including its propagation methods. Next, the editor will introduce it to the netizens.
Australian Cypress mainly propagates through seeds, but cuttage can also produce offspring.
1. Seedlings cultivated by sowing are sturdy and vigorous, with good growth, suitable for mass propagation. Generally, in July to August, the seed coats of freshly collected seeds are first damaged to promote germination, as leaving them in the soil for too long can cause the seeds to rot. Then, the treated seeds are sown in sand beds, covered with fine sand about 1.5 to 2 centimeters thick. Under conditions of 25 to 28℃ and certain humidity, they can germinate in about 2 to 3 weeks. Planting should be done immediately after germination.
2. When using the main stem or elongated branches as cuttings, it can cause the plant to grow unevenly, only able to grow horizontally, which affects its ornamental value. Cut the top 2 to 3 nodes of strong branches that root easily, remove some leaves, soak in clean water overnight, and then insert them into a sand bed with coarse sand or vermiculite as the matrix. Maintain a temperature of 20 to 25℃ and higher air humidity, and the cuttings can root in about 3 months.
Disease and Pest Control: Australian Cypress has very few diseases and pests. When maintained indoors, scale insects are commonly seen. They can be controlled by spraying with pesticides such as Supotec, Chlorpyrifos·Emulsifiable Concentrate, or Guoguang Scale Killer, which have good effects.
