When is the best month for roses to root from cuttings
Today's sharing: experience in the greening maintenance aspect of fast rooting of rose cuttings in certain months and tips for rooting rose branches, let's follow the editor to take a look!
Most rose enthusiasts have tried propagating rose branches, with varying degrees of success. Personally, I prefer the "Wall Collision 2.0" propagation method, which uses clean and uncontaminated substrates, resulting in few blackened stems, fast rooting, and high survival rates.
The most suitable season for rose propagation is spring and autumn, as these are the peak growing seasons for roses. Especially in September and October of autumn, the branches are vigorous and have good resistance after growing through spring and summer, and the temperature is also suitable, leading to higher rooting and survival rates.
Select sturdy rose branches, preferably those below the flowers, retaining two to three buds and keeping each branch between 5 to 8 centimeters long. Trim off the remaining flowers and bottom leaves, leaving only the top leaves for photosynthesis. Make a diagonal cut at the bottom to increase the contact area with the substrate.
Soak the branches in a carbendazim solution for disinfection, find a transparent disposable plastic cup, make three cuts at the bottom for water absorption, and fill it with clean sterile vermiculite. Find a larger tray, fill it with water, and wet the vermiculite. Insert the disinfected rose branches and maintain a temperature of around 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. Ensure there is always water in the tray to keep the base of the branches moist and the humidity within a small range, which is beneficial for rooting.
Place the cuttings in a well-lit and ventilated environment. Since the autumn climate is relatively dry with low humidity, it is necessary to spray water on the leaves frequently or cover the cup mouth with a large bag and make a few holes for ventilation. This can maintain humidity and prevent the branches from drying out. Generally, roots will form within 20 days to a month.

You can also use water propagation for even faster rooting. Find a thin piece of foam board, insert the trimmed rose branches into it, and place them directly into a clean water basin, allowing the branches to float in the water. Avoid moving the basin randomly to keep the branches still.
A larger water basin can maintain higher humidity around the branches, allowing the cut ends to quickly develop white root disks and then grow roots.
In autumn, using either of these two methods for propagating rose branches saves time and effort and promotes fast rooting!
The above is a detailed introduction to the fast rooting of rose cuttings in certain months and tips for rooting rose branches, hoping to bring some floral knowledge to green enthusiasts.
